Support Liz's Fight After Severe Brain Injury

Donation protected
Liz Mullet, vibrant and and much loved not only here in Sarasota but also back home in Indiana, suffered a catastrophic accident on her e-bike, resulting in severe brain injuries, including a brain bleed and diffuse axonal injury? (described as the worst possible concussion). She has been fairly unresponsive in the ICU for over a week, and faces a potentially long, uncertain road to recovery. Her husband, Matt with Mikayla's help, has basically put his life on hold to be with her and provide care for her, crippling his ability to earn income. This leaves the family in a precarious financial position, struggling to cover ongoing daily expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries, and mounting medical costs. Your donation to this GoFundMe campaign will provide vital support to keep their household afloat, allowing Matt to focus on Liz’s recovery without the crushing burden of financial stress. By contributing, you’re not just helping with bills—you’re giving Liz a fighting chance to heal, supported by her family’s unwavering love and faith in her miraculous recovery.

Accident Details:
Liz wrecked her e-bike at high speed, found unresponsive on a sidewalk in Florida.

She sustained two severe brain injuries: a brain bleed (subdural or subarachnoid hemorrhage) and diffuse axonal injury? (a severe concussion-like injury causing widespread brain damage).

Additional injuries include an orbital (eye socket) fracture and a shoulder fracture, but no skull fractures or spinal damage.

Current Medical Condition (as of the latest update):
Liz remains unconscious in the ICU, mostly unresponsive to commands, and is connected to a ventilator.

She shows minimal responses: slight arm movements, eye fluttering when her name is called, and reactions to light and deep pain.

The brain bleed is stable (not worsening), and there is no brain swelling, which is positive.

An MRI revealed brain damage (how much?), the extent of which is unclear, potentially explaining her unresponsiveness.

She was briefly switched to CPAP mode on the ventilator, breathing partially on her own, but cannot yet have the ventilator removed due to insufficient breathing (8 breaths per minute vs. the required 12).

Sedation has been fully stopped, and pain medications were reduced to encourage responsiveness, but she’s still not waking up.

Medical Plan and Prognosis:
If Liz doesn’t respond to commands by soon, doctors plan to try a medication to stimulate brain activity.

Even if she wakes up soon, Liz will require “countless hours” of therapies (physical, occupational, speech, and neurological) for months or years to regain full function.

Doctors have emphasized long-term care, indicating a prolonged recovery with significant medical and rehabilitation costs.

The family remains hopeful, citing their faith in a miraculous recovery despite the grim prognosis.

Family Impact:Liz’s daughter Mikayla is currently in Florida, managing updates and hospital visits.

Matt, Liz’s husband, is devoting most of his time to her care, unable to work much and generate income, creating financial strain for daily living expenses.

The family is seeking encouragement, particularly stories of recovery from similar brain injuries, to bolster their hope.

Prayer Requests:Primary needs: Liz wakes up, breathes independently, and heals from brain damage.
Additional prayers for stable blood pressure and no worsening of the brain bleed.
