Support My Friend's Recovery Journey

This GoFundMe is to benefit my good friend Liz, a beautiful person inside and out.

She is a daycare provider, and she is one of the most loving and caring people you will ever meet. My name is Alicia, and I have been using her for daycare since mid-2019. She is our third grandmother, and has truly become part of our family. I feel incredibly lucky to have found her when I did, and I wouldn't be able to trust my babies to anyone else. She made going back to work after maternity leave so much easier, because I knew my baby was in good, capable hands.

Unfortunately, on the night of 8/21, she was in a terrible car wreck. Thankfully, her injuries are not life-threatening, but they are serious and will take a long time to heal. She has a concussion, broken nose, 4 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a broken knee cap. From the photo of her car, I believe it's totaled. She is losing her income since she won't be able to provide us and the other families childcare. Not only that, but she does not currently have health insurance. Very unfortunate timing with her husband having just gotten a new job and health insurance not kicking in for 90 days. This kind and wonderful woman has a long, hard journey in health ahead, and we want to help make the financial journey easier. It's going to be an uphill battle.

If you are a parent, you know how important it is to have good, honest, reliable, caring childcare. For the past five years, she has been all that and more to our family. She means the world to us, and I know many other current and former daycare families feel the same way. My daughter has never once been upset to go to her house all day. She was worried about starting kindergarten because what if she didn't like her new school as much as her old school? She did a fantastic job prepping her for kindergarten too, she works hard to be a preschool as well as a daycare.

I tell you all this to ask you to help her with her finances, because she is a wonderful person in a really bad situation and she deserves the help of the community that she serves. Any amount helps. In truth, I have no idea how much her medical bills will cost, but $10k seemed like a good starting point. If nothing else, it would be amazing to replace the income she's losing.

Liz, we love you so much, and we are praying hard for your fast recovery. I wish I could turn back time and tell you that JJ doesn't need another toy, to stay home and relax instead of getting into your car. But I can't, so hopefully this tiny bit of help will make a difference. I can't wait to see you again and give you a (gentle) hug.
