Support Liz Nessman in Her Fight Against Breast Cancer

Dear Friends and Community,
I'm reaching out today to ask for your support for my dear friend, Elizabeth Nessman, who is currently going through treatment for breast cancer. Liz is a nurse and was diagnosed shortly after starting a new position. Due to the timing, she was not eligible for short-term disability. Unfortunately, Liz suffered multiple complications from her initial surgery and had to have several repeat procedures prior to starting chemotherapy. During chemotherapy, she continued working as much as able and faced every challenge head-on with her amazing strength and uncanny sense of humor. However, it was not easy on her physically or mentally.

Now, Liz is entering the next phase of her treatment—radiation therapy. This phase will be just as demanding, and is likely to cause profound exhaustion. She is once again facing it with no available paid time off or any type of short-term disability coverage. To make matters even more challenging, Liz is the primary caregiver and sole financial provider for her wonderful 12-year-old daughter. The bills will continue to pile up, and the extra expenses related to her medical condition are adding even more stress to an already overwhelming situation.

While her workplace has been supportive and accommodating, the reality is that it may be extremely difficult for Liz to continue working all of her shifts through this next phase of her treatment. We are hoping to raise funds so that she can take time off when needed, without the fear of financial hardship, and help cover the mounting expenses she is facing. My hope and wish for her is to have the ability to rest when she needs to rest and maximize her healing during this time. I would also love to take away the burden of constant financial worry that I know has had her working when she should have been sleeping.

Liz is one of the most giving people I know—a dedicated nurse who has spent her life taking care of others including her co-workers and friends. Now it’s our turn to take care of her. If you are able, please consider donating to help Liz focus on her health and recovery without the constant worry about making ends meet.

Every little bit helps, and if you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this post and keeping Liz in your thoughts would be amazing.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support.
