Support for Claudio, Liz, and Violeta

We are raising funds to support Claudio and Violeta Papapietro, husband and daughter of our beloved Liz Ligon Papapietro.

On May 8, Liz received a diagnosis of Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. On Thursday, May 28, less than three weeks later, she succumbed to this terrible, aggressive disease. We are devastated by the loss and in shock over the speed with which it took her. Following a courageous but heartbreaking battle, she passed peacefully, with Claudio by her side, at Brooklyn Methodist hospital. We are comforted by the fact that her suffering is over.

For 26 years, Liz had an amazing partner in her husband Claudio Papapietro. The love, support, and strength exhibited by Claudio throughout this last chapter has been an inspiration. Liz and Claudio also have a truly remarkable daughter who will be turning 6 later this summer. Between Claudio and a wide circle of friends and family, Liz and Violeta were cared for with love and support from many, and that support will continue.

This fundraiser will help support the volume of medical bills that they have accrued over these past weeks and months, while helping to offset the loss of income as these two incredible photographers had to pause their work lives to focus on Liz’s medical care. That focus will continue as Claudio begins this new chapter of life without Liz by his side.
