"WILD THINGS" Site-Specific Performance @ The Skirball

Hi! This is Zoe Rappaport and I am an LA/NY-based Director/Choreographer & Interdisciplinary Artist. I recently received a commission to create a new, live site-specific performance for the largest retrospective of Maurice Sendak's 60-year career at The Skirball Center!

Maurice Sendak, author/illustrator of "Where the Wild Things Are" amongst countless other children's books, also worked with a number of ballet companies as a set designer. He was also a longtime collaborator of Twyla Tharp - who first inspired me, from a young age, to become a choreographer.

On Friday May 10th, a phenomenal cast of Movement Artists will be bringing the Wild Things to life through movement during Skirball's "Late Night: Wild Things are Happening" event. Exhibits will be open late and there will be food trucks, live music, DJs, a dance floor, cash bar, puppets, arts activities for all ages and more!

It is beyond an honor to be creating this original work for the Sendak exhibit at The Skirball, and it so happens to be my first commission! While we received some funding from Skirball, there are numerous expenses we are still trying to cover. Your support will help us pay for:

There is so much work that goes into producing a non-commercial artistic project, especially in a short amount of time, and our community is significantly and disproportionately underresourced. Truly no amount is too small, and everything is so deeply felt and appreciated.
