Please Donate to Little Yorkie Rescues Urgent Medical Cases

Tax deductible
Hello, everyone I want to introduce to you a very special cause(s) that I am hoping you will support with me and tell you briefly about its sincere and dire needs. Its a rescue I help with in Lorain Ohio, Little Yorkie Rescue its a 501c3, a non-profit foster-based rescue. That means we do not have a big stand alone facility that ALL of our rescues stay in together for their unified care. We depend even more so on our fosters because everything is done for the rescue(s) from the safety of our fosters homes. Everyone involved with the rescue with assusting in numerous roles are all volunteers which is amazing also. We assist in the rescuing/saving of pups on various levels. We have and can help with the pulling of pups from shelters in crisis, working with shelters on special cases/situations, taking into rescue surrenders from owners based on life altering changes, rescuing from hoarding cases, domestic violence crisis/situations, pups that have been dumped/abandoned in unsafe and far out areas, owners who have facex homelessness situations, owners with unexpected illnesses, hoarding cases, overwhelming situations-- life in general for the owner, tragedy cases/accidents, and cruelty court ordered cases along with various and numerous other situations that we are asked to assist with or situations that we are asked to "fix/solve". We receive calls, texts, Facebook messages, and emails to assist with the saving of at least one to numerous furbabies a day . We also have and assist with owner hospice cases, etc... We have people once receiving their diagnosis that their earthly journey will be short reach out to us to facilitate finding their furbaby a new family. They wish to be a part in their furbabies start. They want and need to know their belived furbabys new journey is one of love with another family. The selfless love of finding their beloved furbaby their next family that is one of our greatest honors. In providing that level of comfort for the owners for them in giving their furbaby a new family is an amazing honor. The furbaby is their world and the owner wishes to make sure that he or she is protected. They give up their need for the pets unconditional love and companionship. In order to give the furbaby the protection of their next safe and loving home as their final gift and act of love for their beloved pet---their family member. They want them to go find happiness, love, a new family and not to see them struggle with their (the owners) death. Its a huge gift also to the owner the one of relief, a true blessing to the owner to be able to provide that level of safety knowing their baby will be loved and cared for when the are gone..

Our rescue deals with small breeds mainly yorkies, yorkie mixes, and various other small breed dogs. We also facilitate in community support by helping families with other larger breed dogs in getting to the right rescues that can and will help them with the rehoming, the adoption, the rescue, with supplies if needed, etc.... We ensure that before our rescues are adopted to a new family they receive all the proper care needed to start their new happy, healthy, loving, and well-deserved journey with the right family/home. They receive their much needed vetting, up to date vaccines, heartworm, lymes, fecal, urine, testing are all done, a complete physical assessment to check over-all health and well-being, spays, neuters, a microchipped will be done if not already, and dentals are done-if needed. If they've never had any vetting done then all of their medical care is completed before they are adopted. Some are extremely speciality cases with their illnesses, diseases, issues, procedures, testing, surgeries, and various specialized options that are needed to be done, etc... The vet care needed to be done for the various and numerous medical issues usually requires several different vet specialists. Most require visits to teaching hospitals such as OSU-Vet Hospital in Columbus, Ohio for example or another specialized Vet office which usually means much more intense, serious surgeries, procedures, & therapies such as liver-shunt surgeries, ortho, cardiac, neuro, skin issues, biopsies etc.. We facilitate with our amazing foster parents, foster families, and teams for the pups start in their healing. In order to begin their journey to regain their confidence some cases are a lengthy processes from their severe abuse in some cases, neglect, cruelty cases, etc. ...For us to begin the start of the rescues well planned out and extensive healing and training that maybe needed. A plan of care for their comfort level is needed for their success to adjust to such things as a simple leash walk, learning to potty- house training, good social manners, etc.... Some of these simple skills take time due to the severity of neglect/abuse within the individual cases, We help with socialization, manners, and behavioral skills. We at times get the occasional bite dog(s) that require a skilled foster to determine the triggers and can work with the rescue on the issue(s) in overcoming the problem(s). At times weve had to use trainers, medication(s), and behavioral specialists. We sometimes have needed police escorts to go into certain situations to save the pups. My husband and I were involved in one of these missions to save a Dame, Sire, and their 4 pups out of a domestic violence situation. Since I joined the rescue I've been apart of numerous amazing rescues each one so very heartwrenching. The rescue has such an amazing team of skilled people from fosters, transport drivers, crafters, marketing, public support, networking, actual people to go in and save the pups its amazing to watch them all in action and a blessing to be apart of I invite you to come join our rescue Little Yorkie Rescue and Auction for Little Yorkie Rescue its a wonderful opportunity to read first hand our amazing cases and stories about the pups and how they became a LYR rescue pup. The amazing lengths these great people go to for the pups is truly amazing. Come see, meet, and fall in love with our rescue, the pups, and read their stories. So Many of the pups you will meet their stories are heartwrenching that you will cry with us actually over them, for them, and because of them. After you read their stories by the end when they are adopted you will cheer with us for them for their amazing outcomes. Because by then you will have grown to love them too and you will be just as invested in their journey.
I realize that currently so many of the shelters and rescues are in great need financially, with staffing, fosters, transporters, adopters, donations, etc.. We currently have several cases that are and will substantially cost alot of money to help these furbabies live comfortably and normally or as close to normal as possible for them. Their normal will just be a comfortable and a well adjusted lifestyle with surgery, etc... but they will be able to move, get to water, food, able to potty, and possibly be pain free that is our hopes for them. To live out the rest of their lives as best as we can offer them. I will try to briefly explain each case to you. I also invite you to reach out to me personally for a more detailed explanation of the pup and their story also.

We have a very sweet 7 yr old 2.8 lb a poster pup for a severely inbreeding congenital mess of backyard breeding, puppy mills and/or greeder breeders. A yorkie mix named LILY. We've already spent 2000 on her left knee for an Ortho surgery at OSU for a luxating patella surgery with bilateral muscle, tendon, ligament revision from the knee down to her ankle due to a "questionable human related injury " She, her pack (we rescued 2 more from that home. her dad, OLLIVER and then a female dog MAGGIE MAE-her title is actually truly unknown to us its either LILYs mom/aunt/sister/cousin and has been told to us 3 different ways what her "TRUE" role is in LILYs life and what it could actually be) The lady, the previous owner at the time who made a very serious and desperate plea for help to us to save them. She needed to get them out immediately due to one of them, MAGGIE MAE was physically and violently thrown out of rage to the floor by the male owner in the house. LILYs leg had already suffered a "twisting" injury and she was awaiting surgery with us. They were ALL living in a domestic violence situation and constant fear. The man had done jail time for harming the woman in the past and took his rage out on the pups now. So, we went running to save them. We met OLIVER & MAGGIE MAEs new mom 5 hrs away. These babies are now living their best lives protected, safe, well-cared for, and loved with their paralyzed sister NYLA that we- LYR had saved a few years ago from a cruelity case.
LILY has a grade 6 cardiac murmur and on a blood pressure med twice a day along with a pain med due to her neuro deformities. She is not in CHF yet which is truly is amazing. She is under regular cardiac care and received cardiac clearance for surgery and procedures. She will need a Cardiac ablasion in the future if she goes into CHF due to her murmur. Its so serious she is not a candidate for a stent due to its location because her deficit is near the pulmonary artery the Cardiac Dr. said she can not be stented in that area. An ablasion is her only option and it is not 100% at that particular area of her heart there is no guarantee that it will work and for how long. Her murmur is so severe she will with CHF be in end stage heart disease immediately. She also needs a dental done She has horrible dental disease with a mouth full of rotted teeth from neglect, no dental care has ever been done for her. She has been on 3 rounds of antibiotics due to having infections in her mouth since weve gotten her. She also needs a spay to prevent pyometria. She also has seizures due to her neuro deformity and has experienced one with us. She was evaluated by Neuro at OSU and diagnosed with chiari-like malformation her surgeries will have to be done at there or any teaching facility that has an anesthesia team, cardiac team, and a neuro team able to be in the surgery suite with the surgeon performing the procedure/surgery needed, for example the Soft Tissue Trauma Team that will do her spay will have cardiac, anesthesia, and neuro there. Anesthestia will definetly be at the head of her bed, they will consult the other teams for feed back and to tell them that she is there and find out how to handle her case. I believe just like with her knee and the "crisis episodes" that happened on the table with her blood pressure that ALL of the teams will wish to be present by sending one surgeon to her bedside due to her delicate nature. During her knee surgery her BP was not adequate it ran way too low . It was stated by anesthestia that it dropped dangerously low and was maintained by atropine and epinephrine that he used cardiac meds only. He pushed them through out her surgery so as not to give her extra IV fluids and throw her into CHF. Anesthesia also maintained her airway and kept her neck aligned due to her chiari-like malformation and the possibility of paralysis. He did not leave her and stayed with her even in ICU till she was awake. The cardiac team never want her given extra IV fluids or boluses if cardiac meds can be given to her so as not to overload her to prevent her from going into CHF. We had already went to another facility in Columbus, Ohio first where her care was originally started randomly done. She was previously established there due to scant and random care throughout her life. There we were billed 632 for cardiac with an additional 600 for neuro and ortho evaluations but we decided we needed to go for second opinions due to what we were told by that facilitys different depts regarding her treatment and care. The plans of care were very questionable upon just visually seeing her. At our regular vet check up for a physical, blood work, heartworm, lymes, fecal, and urine testing that were done it was stressed the need for specialized care. The care and bill there was 334.00. Visually even the neighbors in our subdivision can see "the abnormalities" and questioned her deficits. So to be told that she was "fine" was not acceptable. We discussed our option for getting a second opinion with our vet Dr Shy, the President and Founder of LYR Donna Rickard, and the VP Judys Page. We truly ALL thought the need for a second opinion was necessary. So, that she could live her best life. She on her own had lived through domestic violence and severe inbreeding with minimal care. She had made it to 7 yrs of age. On our....the rescues watch we were going to do sooo much better for her. Our amazing care then was started at OSU-Vet Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. The care then was to work with OSU in partnering with our reg Vets office in Barboursville WV with our Dr Shy whose amazing care had got us there. Her left leg was saved. It was fixed. She can use it and walk. She does have severe arthritis in her ankles but she can walk. Her left leg was not amputated as per the first facility statement as the only option to be done for her. They also said her right leg that her right knee was fine. She in fact has a grade 3 luxating patella with that right knee that once popped in place and the 8 weeks of cage rest not only can she walk to get water, to eat, she doesnt collapse screaming for help and from pain. She doesnt look like she has chicken wings for rear legs any more that due to a "human related" injury jut out to the sides making any kind of walking, self care, doing anything for herself impossible. The neuro dept at the first facility also said her neuro issues were vestibular. To visually look at this furbaby she looks like a furbaby with downs syndrome. She has a misshapen head, a small bulging forehead, a very small neck, a small curved in the wrong direction spine cord. This facility said she was fine. Always go with your gut instinct. Even if your furbaby isn't noticeable different. The boy at the Speedway convenience center at 16 yrs of age knew she was different and my 5 yr old neighbor could tell she is "sick" and needed to see a Dr. but several college graduated medical vet professionals ( first facility-only) couldnt visually tell that not only could she not walk but had to drag herself along with the fact she appears to look like she can not carry her head- its to large for her neck and spine aka a bobble head. She is my hero. A tiny and mighty warrior of strength. She still needs vetting but she is so delicate and we are taking things slow. Her leg has just healed. Now on to the next procedure.

We then rescued a bonded pair of tinies that were an owner surrender. The previous owner is also a breeder of Great Danes. They have had their dentals and bloodwork, heartworm, lymes, fecal, and urine testing done. PIXIE a female tiny blonde yorkie mix is approx 4 lbs. She was started on monthly cytopoint for severe allergies. The care at Barboursville Vet Clinic was 932.00 because they also received antibiotics due to their dentals, a pain med due to her deformities, and her thyroxin due to a med increase. They received their dentals an additional 900.00. They are both so tiny and the lack of any dental care and the possibility of jaw/bone involvement was a great concern for both of them. We feared that one or both would lose their bottom jaws or that their jaw could possibly break or crumble in different areas. PETEY the boy a tiny traditional coloring male, yorkie mix thats approx 3.5 lbs. He lost all 28 teeth. His tiny jaw was saved with delicate dental surgical care. PIXIE the girl lost 11 teeth that were all fractured from the gum line up to the crown. It was stated the pain must have been awful that she was experiencing with her mouth and head. It was believed from chewing on something extremely hard possibly a cage. Her jaw was also kept intact. She has severe alopecia and horrible bone/joint issues. She is being seen by The Dermatology Specialists in Louisville KY by Dr Miller were skin biopsies were done and sent off. She has 3 horrible staph infections requiring a special spray and an antibiotic from BCP in Texas that is a vet only pharmacy. The antibiotic is a pet only liquid antibiotic and a very special one to kill ALL 3 bugs/staph infections. She gets it twice a day its specially compounded for her small size and shipped on dry ice every 30 days. Her Dermatology visits have costs 1300 so far. We go again June 26th at 200 pm for a follow-up appt to assess her skin progress to see if shes cleared for her Ortho surgery. The visits are usually 426.00. She has not yet been cleared for her Ortho surgery at OSU because they fear until all 3 bugs/staph infections are gone/resolved theres too great of a risk for sepsis and even death because shes so small. She was seen by the OSU Ortho Team regarding her gait, stance, limited mobility, and deformed appearance of all 4 limbs. Dr. Serger an Orthopedic vet surgeon at OSU stated she is not only born with slight bone deformities but after her x-rays were completed she appears to have suffered some type of injury causing a pressing of her chest and abdomen flat to the floor then causing all 4 extremities to be flattened and pressed outward. A pawing or palming type injury possibly from the Great Danes she lived with attempting to play/stop her from leaving or moving. They said both back legs require surgery for her to walk, to stand, and to live comfortably. They said the level of pain must be horrid at the joints because shes taught herself to self auto correct her stance. She walks by shifting to the front limbs more causing them to be suffering by bowing them out more. The front limbs/knees are now luxating patellas a grade 2/3 each. She appears to be a 80 lb bulldog by looking at her front legs how she tries to stand and hold herself due to pain. They think with cage rest after surgery on the back legs they are hoping the front legs will not need surgery for awhile if at all. The left rear leg is the worse one it needs done first and as soon as possible once her skin is healed. Once her Dermatologist, Dr Miller says she is cleared they want to get her scheduled ASAP for the left knee. The knee has suffered for so long from the injury that its got a calcified protective cast covering over the patella that will possibly require a "break,".....which means Dr. Serger will have to manually break and shave down her extremely large knee cap and place it in the correct position and socket then the knotching of the bone will need to be done with a stabilizing pin along with the bilateral muscle, ligament, tendon revision done all the way down her leg from the knee to the ankle. It was estimated as high as 4,000 but can be as low as 2,900 they wont know for sure until they are in there. Once in they can see what the true extent and damage is and what will actually need to be done. They after seeing her x-rays can repair and fix her knees and legs which is a blessing. They can help her which is amazing and nothing has to be amputated because to look at her you just think nothing is going to be possible to help this poor girl ever be normal or to truly walk much again. She with surgery can live comfortably and will be able to walk to potty, to eat, and to get water on her own. That is an amazing blessing that she wont have to cry out in need for assistance and for some type of quick help. The same with the right rear leg but that knee is not as bad. She will require 8 to 10 weeks post op cage rest for both of them. PIXIE no longer can walk and requires being carried and the help of her pack to get water and food they actually "hold" her up over the bowls to eat and to get water like they did LILY. The right leg was given the same estimate for surgery costs. PETEY is now completed in his vetting as far as surgeries, neuter, dentals, bloodwork, and testing. He may need vaccines as well as PIXIE later but she is requiring so much more specialized care. Dermatology feels also she may need a further look into Cushings Disease/endocrine testing and possibly Hormone testing for the severe alopecia, barreled chest, and pot bellied abdomen appearance that she has. There is a fear there has been breeding drugs used or a very late in life spay with the possibility of a small piece of an ovary left contributing to this horrible issue of not being able to heal adequately, fight infections, and along with the severe alopecia. She has been living hairless for a very long time making it so easy for her to have, get, and keep these awful and deadly infections. She only has hair on her face and paws at present time. She gets the monthly cytopoint shots for severe allergies and has hypothyroidism. Her med of Thyroxin was increased to 1 mg twice a day to get her to a therapeutic level.
PIXIEs case is a complex one and a heartwrenching one but these babies have had very scant medical care, even years without any care at all. She has went years without even getting her medicine. We have the medical records to prove it and the notes on the denied/refusal of dentals, according to the notes along with refusal for bloodwork, any testing, shots, vaccines, care in general was denied and noted throughout the charting, etc.. She attempted to breed them also and it was stated by the vets staff that it was unsuccessful. So did she, the previous owner- the breeder start investing more time and energy into the Great Danes.!? Allowing these babies to suffer neglect since they couldnt make puppies and make her money?!?!
Update on PIXIE she now gets antibiotic shots every 10 days on June 26 her bill was 436.00 at the Dermatology Specialists Office. She had another skin biopsy, a skin scraping, an antibiotic shot was given, a cytopoint allergy shot was given, a medicated bath/ shampoo rinse to use was given from there, directions on a Dakins daily pat down which is an old school diluted bleach bath to kill the infections. PIXIE is still in crisis with the infections and on July 24 she will have another skin biopsy, skin scraping, and endocrine blood work testing along with her antibiotic shot if still needed and a cytopoint allergy shot. PIXIEs body is fighting itself its either an autoimmune, endocrine response or Dr Miller believes that some very intense " big animal/pup breeding " drug/meds have been used. The endocrine blood work will be 867.00 for just this panel of blood work. The blood work will check numerous things out and will eliminate alot of things that can be standing in her way of healing. Its truly amazing this sweet, timid, little girl that is unable to walk now has made it to approx 10 to 12 yrs of age. With such horrible issues. These things, her illness and deficits Ive been told by ALL of her DRs did not just happen overnight. She has suffered, learned to live, and has managed as best she could. She has accepted and managed this as her fate. Shes my hero. All of these furbabies are my heroes! Her antibiotic shot at Dr Shys office on July 10th was 19.00.

We then rescued another bonded pair a parti-yorkie mix a sweet velcro boy named BEAN who is approx 5 yrs old, approx 5 lbs, and his red yorkie mix girlfriend NINA whose approx 8 to 10 yrs old (acts 2 yrs old) approx 6 lbs of sassiness. Their complete vetting of blood work, physicals, heartworm, lymes, fecal, and urine testing were done. They had a spay, neuter, and dentals done also. BEANs foster mom noticed him having trouble with his walking, his knee "catching" at different times while walking or/and running. He would shake it out himself and fix his patella back in place. Then one day he couldnt shake it at all to realign it. It was stuck to the side limiting his mobility and causing extreme pain. He was taken to OSU for an evaluation by the Ortho team to see what was happening to his knee. We were familiar with it and knew he probably had a luxating patella issue. We didnt know if he needed surgery and/or if he was a candidate for it. We wanted to see if it could be fixed and how if surgery wasnt an option would therapy help such as water, laser, etc.... He does have a luxating patella issue that requires a normal luxating patella surgery. He can have surgery at Dr Hudsons office in Lorain Ohio with an estimate of 1200 for his right knee. We are hoping the left knee will not require surgery and that with cage rest it will be fine its a stage 2/3 luxating patella issue presently . Their vetting covered so far by the rescue has been around 2000. They are the sweetest furbabies and BEAN has surgery on July 18th and will require at least 6 weeks cage rest. These amazing pups are actively looking for their forever home and family. Update BEAN had surgery and will be reevaluated in 10 days for the length of cage rest needed for his healing. He is not enjoying cage rest but is getting spoiled rotten. NINA remains a diva. We have discovered they can be adooted separetely. These sweet furbabies are looking for their forever homes.

HANNAH is a stunning long haired Chihuahua. Shes approx 8 to 10 yrs old and 9 lbs but actively losing weight. She came into rescue when her owner became extremely ill. She has needed all of her vetting done. She has had a complete physical, blood work, vaccines, heartworm, lymes, fecal, and urine testing, a dental, and we are getting an ultrasound to see if shes been spayed in the past. Her vetting has been over 500. We still need the dental done and ultrasound for confirmation if an actual spay has been done in the past on her. If shes not spayed then it will need done before her adoption. I can get an actual price on that as well. She was spayed per the ultrasound. HANNAH lost only one tooth but had a growth removed that was causing an odor in her mouth. Her total vetting has been 1100. She is taking applications for her forever family as well. She is an incredible girl thats learning to play, loves other pups, veggies as a snack, and having her person with her. Shes extremely timid and will need a patient parent.

We have HUGO a sweet blonde boy that we received a call from a local shelter that's a friend to our rescue and to local area rescues in general. They were in need of help in a fast placement situation. They were full and he was 3 days in the in-take garage. We found a foster and ran to get this sweet boy. He is a stunning blonde gentleman thats approx 11 yrs old but acts 2 yrs old or younger now. He is approx 16 lbs of studly muscles. He was so severely infected when we got him that his labs and urine results indicated he had bladder cancer. He was actually peeing blood. He was also treated for a severe abcess from horrid dental disease issues that caused a sore to erupt on the outside of his face near his eye and he had a sore on his "manhood" We were told by the vet to euthanize him now due to the belief he had end stage bladder cancer and wouldnt last long. We couldnt do that to him. to let him cross the Rainbow Bridge not knowing love and a family. We had just saved/rescued him and he deserved so much more. He deserved to know LOVE, a FAMILY, and a HOME. We chose the only option for him and us, We were taking our/LYRs boy home with a forever hospice foster. The option of love won. A bucket list for him was planned and thought out by his foster family and us of goodies for him to have and experience. However long his life was going to be. We wanted him to know he was special and loved. We took his antibiotics, pain meds, and steroids with us when we left the vets office that day for him home. We took our boy home. HUGO went home with his foster family with a title of a furever hospice foster. The family took him home to start the process of loving him like crazy everyday that we were blessed to have him . Our goal was to spoil him rotten to show him true love, that hes special, and that he matters. He was found on the street in Ohio eating "critter or his own poop" in order to live. So our goal was to give him heaven on earth for whatever time that was gping to be. He was too sick to even have a neuter or have a dental done. We were told then he had end stage bladder cancer. So it wasnt an option to put him through all of those things and it honestly didnt matter. He wouldnt live through the surgeries anyway. We werent going to do that to him. He has a grade 2 cardiac murmur without CHF, no meds for it are needed and a slight issue with arthritis. Time went by and HUGOs infection resolved. He started to act like a puppy. He was acting young, spirited, happy, loved, and healthy. Well, he was not acting like a dying pup at all. We knew we needed a recheck or a second opinion for confirmation of his diagnosis. He became a spoiled rotten diva dude in rescue by his forever foster family and by us- the rescue in general. He is absolutely the sweetest baby that gets along with everyone as well as all pups from different sizes and ages. We took him to another vet for a second opinion and a recheck. We knew we needed an ultrasound and biopsies done for the confirmation of the bladder cancer and recent, more up to date blood work. We found out after testing that HUGO was no longer our LYR HOSPICE FURBABY. He was a healthy boy. He did not have cancer he was misdiagnosed due to the amount of infection it was so bad his blood work at the time of being seen was skewed to be diagnosised as cancer not border line sepsis. HUGO is a healthy, adorable, spunky, and sassy young man that is looking for love. He needs a dental and a neuter now which we will get done before his adoption. We recently spent 552.00 on him with the recheck and previously over 2200. His neuter and dental estimates are not available yet but can be easily attained. I just need to reach out to his foster and/or the vets office its usually 700.00 or less for a depending on teeth that are in the mouth left for cleaning and extractions along with an xray for jaw involvement and abcesses. Then the extractions to be done are usually per tooth. I honestly think he may only have 5 teeth that remain left if all 5 are bad and need removed. Neuters at most vets offices are weight based along with the meds given for sedation in order to intubate and to be kept under for the procedures along with after care meds. He is looking for his forever home also. Hes absolutely a gorgeous, well-mannered, and sweet boy. Who has reigned supreme against the odds. He is a love bug and a gentle warrior.

We normally raise enough money by our monthly auctions, our "waffles," donations in general, and adoptions. Some members actually reach out to be anonymous donors or to make one large lump sum donation depending on the case or situation. We have never went this route on social media to ask for help but we are hitting a brick wall. We could use your help. If you could donate $1.00 or $5.00 it all adds up. I promise! These furbabies deserve a chance at normalcy...what ever that maybe for them once healed and their walking improves. Their whole lives will change. They are already so happy to be safe and loved. They've suffered for years in silence patiently just wanting to be seen and loved. When I/We go in we make the promise. We fight together, you are not alone, and the suffering is over. . We go down together, fighting against sometimes some really amazing odds. I am coming to ask you ALL if you could please help my new friends out with their medical situations? They are the voiceless, the defenseless, the innocent little waariors just happy to be loved now. They only ask to be loved....even in pain because they truly dont know any other options. They would choose to live as is if you ask them because thats the way dogs. They are stoic. They never let you see them struggle they only wish to be loved and with us. I am asking for them. They have suffered and learned to deal far to long. We appreciate any thing you could do to help us, in order to help them.

We ask for a small minimum donation for the furbaby, pup, dog upon their adoption and its never what we have in them. I personally have a liver shunt furbaby that was 5000 plus. Weve raised alot of money for these pups over the years without doing it this way by doing a GoFund Me fundraiser. This option/route is new for us to explore. So, I apologize at my approach being so unorganized and random. We know so many are in need from shelters and rescues everywhere. Weve had to turn away numerous pups in need the owners applications, requests, etc with LYR - our rescue because of these medical cases, not having the immediate funds nor fosters but what weve done is we HAVE FOUND THEM HELP. Weve actually contacted and turned to our "sister rescue friends" to have them take the pups for us if they can or help us network them with other rescues. Weve had other rescues fly them across the country for care and adoption. We DO NOT GIVE UP! we are ALL PAWS IN! If they dont require any vetting and are up to date then we network them for the owners as fast as we can. I know its asking alot but if you all could donate just a few dollars to help some really sweet furbabies in serious need. Who truly have suffered immensely get off to a better start in order to begin their amazing new lives. The donation(s) will go to cover all of their medical care that we can meet and we will keep asking and begging. We are honestly trying to start them on the journey they deserve. I will gladly go into greater detail about them, how we start the process, what we do to get the ball rolling, etc... Please reach out to me, Donna Rickard the Founder and President along with Judys Page the Vice-President. We will gladly help you, answer questions, and get you an application if you want to foster or to adopt. We will explain the rescue to you and we would love for you to join our group(s) . The rescue maybe small but we manage some really big cases with GRIT & GRACE.

I am so proud to help and be apart of such an amazing team of compassionate people. I just wanted to proudly share with you MY rescue ...my rescue thats in great need, actually its the pups that are in great need of the help.....your help. We love fiercely. We are just limited and have to come to this platform to ask for help now. PIXIE is our most critical case and probably going to be the most costly one. She truly is soo limited and so sweet and pitiful. You only want to hold her, cry, and take the abuse and neglect away You truly want to fight for her! Weve had pups cost 15,000 plus go on to live amazing long lives. She deserves to stand on her own to drink, eat, potty, etc.... Hello, everyone I want to introduce to you a very special cause(s) and tell you briefly about a Rescue I help with in Lorain Ohio, Little Yorkie Rescue. Its a non-profit 501c3 foster based rescue that assists in the rescuing, pulling of pups from shelters, owner surrenders, rescuing from hoarding situations, and cruelty cases along with variousand numerous other situations we receive calls to assist with . We also have & assist with hospice cases, etc.. Our breeds are yorkies, yorkie mixes, and various small breed pups but we also facilitate other breeds in getting to the right rescues. That will help them get rehomed, adopted, rescued, etc.... We ensure that before our pup(s) are adopted to a new family they receive all the proper care needed to start their happy, healthy, loving, and well-deserved journey with the right family/home. They receive their much needed vetting, up to date vaccines, heartworm, lymes, fecal, urine, testing are all done, a complete physical assessment to check over-all health and well-being, spays, neuters, and dentals are done-if needed and not been done. Some are extreme speciality cases with illnesses, issues, etc... requiring specialized vet care for various and numerous medical issues. Most require visits to teaching hospitals such as OSU-Vet Hospital in Columbus, Ohio for example or another specialized Vets office which usually means intense, serious surgeries, procedures, & therapies such as liver-shunt surgeries, ortho, cardiac, neuro, skin issues, biopsies etc.. We facilitate with our amazing foster team the pups start to begin their journey to regain their confidence from severe abuse in some cases, neglect, cruelty cases, etc. To start extensive training for a comfort level for them to adjust to such things as simply leash walking and potty- house training. Some of these simple skills take time time due to the severely of neglect/abuse within the individual cases, We help with socialization, manners, and behavioral skills. We at times get the occasional bite dog(s) that require a skilled foster to determine the triggers and can work with the pup on the issue(s) in overcoming the problem(s). At times weve had to use trainers, medication(s), and behavioral specialists. We sometimes have to have police escorts to go in the facility/home with us to save these pups. My husband and I were involved in one of these missions to save a Dame, Sire, and their 4 pups out of a domestic violence situation. Since I joined the rescue I've been apart of numerous amazing rescues. I invite you to come join our rescue Little Yorkie Rescue and Auction for Little Yorkie Rescue its a wonderful opportunity to read first hand our amazing cases and stories. The amazing lengths these great people go to without true care for themselves. Come see, meet, and fall in love with our pups and read their stories. So Many 3/4 of their stories are heartwrenching that you will cry with us over them and for them, but then you will cheer with us their amazing outcomes.
I realize that currently so many of the shelters and rescues are in great need financially, with staffing support, with fosters support, transports support, adopters, donations, etc.. We currently have several cases that are and will be costing us alot of money to help these furbabies live comfortably and normally or as close to normal as possible for them. I will try to briefly explain each case to you. I also invite you to reach out to me personally for a more detailed explanation of the pup also.

We have a very sweet 7 yr old 2.8 lb severely inbred congenital furbaby named LILY. We've already spent 2000 on her left knee for an Ortho surgery at OSU for a luxating patella surgery with bilateral muscle, tendon, ligament revision from knee down due to a "questionable human related injury" she, her pack (we rescued 2 more from that home. Her dad one of the boy dogs then a female pup the title is actually truly unknown to us its LILYs mom/aunt/sister/cousin and has been told 3 different ways what her "TRUE" role is in LILYs life ) The lady out of fear who reached out to us in serious and critical need to save them called in an urgent plea that it was very serious and needed to get them out now when one of them was physically thrown the other small girl. They were ALL living in a domestic violence situation. The man had done jail time for harming the woman in the past. So, we went running to save them. We met OLIVER & MAGGIE MAEs mom 5 hrs away. These babies are living their best lives protected and loved with their paralyzed sister NYLA that we had saved a few years ago.
LILY also has a grade 6 cardiac murmur and on Blood Pressure meds twice a day but she is not in CHF yet. She is under cardiac care and will need a Cardiac Ablasion later if she goes into CHF due to the murmur being so serious at an end stage cardiac level. She presently needs a dental. She has horrible dental disease with a mouth full of rotted teeth from neglect, no dental care ever done. She also needs a spay to prevent pyometria. She also has seizures. She was evaluated by Neuro at OSU and diagnosed with chiari-like malformation her surgeries will have to be done at OSU due to her delicate nature. We had already went to another facility first were her care was done randomly throughout her life. There we were billed 632 for cardiac with an additional 600 for neuro and ortho evaluations but we went for second opinions due to what we were told by those depts regarding her treatment and care. The plans of care were very questionable upon just visually seeing her. At our regular vet check up for a physical, blood work, heartworm, lymes, fecal, and urine testing that were done it was stressed the need for specialized care. Visually even the neighbors can see "the abnormalities" and questioned her deficits. So to be told that she was "fine" was not acceptable. We discussed our option for getting a second opinion with our vet, our President Donna Rickard, and our VP Judys Page that we truly ALL thought the need for a second opinion was necessary. So, that she could live her best life. Our amazing care then was started at OSU-Vet Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. The care then was to work with OSU in partner with our reg Vets office in Barboursville WV with our Dr Shy whose amazing care got us there.

We then rescued a bonded pair of tinies that were owner surrenders. The previous owner is also a breeder of Great Danes. They have had their dentals and bloodwork, heartworm, lymes, fecal, and urine testing done. PIXIE was started on cytopoint for severe allergies the care at Barboursville Vet Clinic was 932.00 because they also received antibiotics to start prior to their dentals. They received their dentals. They are both so tiny and lack of any dental care and the possibility of jaw/bone involvement was great concern. We feared that one or both would lose their bottom jaws or that they could possibly break. PETEY the boy lost all 28 teeth and his tiny jaw was saved. PIXIE the girl lost 11 teeth that were all fractured from the gum line up to the crown. We go again June 26th at 200 pm for a follow-up appt to assess her skin progress to see if shes cleared for surgery. The visits are usually 426.00. She has not yet been cleared for her Ortho surgery at OSU because they fear until all 3 bugs/staph infections are gone/resolved theres to great of a risk for sepsis and death because shes so small. She walks by shifting to the front limbs more causing them to now be suffering by bowing them out to be now having luxating patellas grade 2/3 issues. They think with cage rest after surgery on the back legs they are hoping the front will not need surgery for awhile if at all. The left rear leg is the worse one it needs done first and as soon as possible. Once her skin is healed they want to schedule her to start the healing and recovery of the leg. The knee has suffered for so long from the injury that its got a calcified protective cast covering over the patella that will possible require a "break" then the knotching with a stabilizing pin then the bilateral muscle, ligament, tendon revision done all the way down her leg. It was estimated as high as 4,000 but csn be as low as 2900 they wont know for sure until they are in there. Once in they can see what will actually need to be done. They can repair, fix her knees and legs. They help her which is amazing and nothing has to be amputated because to look at her you just think nothing is possible. She with surgery can live comfortably and will be able to walk to potty, to eat, and to get water comfortably and on her own. That is a blessing that she wont have to cry out in need. The same with the right rear leg but the knee is not as bad. She will require 8 to 10 weeks post op cage rest for both. PIXIE no longer can walk and requires being carried and the help of her pack to get water and food they actually "hold" her up over the bowls to eat and to get water like they did LILY. The right leg was given the same estimate. PETEY is now completed as far as surgeries, neuter, dentals, bloodwork, and testing. He may need vaccines as well as PIXIE but she is requiring so much more specialized care. Dermatology feels also she may need further look into Cushings Disease and Hormone testing for the severe alopecia and barreled chest and abdomen appearance. There is a fear there has been breeding drugs used or a very late in life spay with the possibility of a small piece of an ovary left contributing to this horrible issue. She has been living hairless for a long time making it so easy for her to have, get, and keep infections. She only has hair on her face and paws at present time. She gets the monthly cytopoint shots for severe allergies and has hypothyroidism. Her med of Thyroxin was increased to 1 mg twice a day to get her to a therapeutic level.
PIXIEs case in complex and heartwrenching one but these babies have had very scant medical care, years without anything at all even her medicine. We have the medical records to prove it and the notes on the denied dentals, according to the notes alot of care/testing was refused, refusal for bloodwork was noted throughout the charting, etc.. She attempted to breed them and it was stated it was unsuccessful. So did she start investing more time and energy into the Great Danes and allowing these babies to suffer neglect?

We then rescued another bonded pair a parti-yorkie mix a boy BEAN thats 5 yrs old, approx 5 lbs, and his red yorkie mix girlfriend NINA whose approx 10 yrs old (acts 2 yrs old) approx 6/7 lbs of sassiness. Their complete vetting of blood work, physicals, heartworm, lymes, fecal, and urine testing were done. They had a spay, neuter, and dentals also . BEANs foster mom noticed him having trouble with his walking, his knee "catching" at times. He would shake it out himself and fix his patella back in place. Then one day he couldnt shake it at all and it was stuck to the side limiting his mobility and causing extreme pain. He was taken to OSU for an evaluation by the Ortho team to see if he was a candidate for surgery and what truly was happening to his knee and could it be fixed. He has a luxating patella issue that requires a normal luxating patella surgery. He can have surgery at Dr Hudsons office in Lorain Ohio with an estimate of 1200 for his right knee. We are hoping the left knee will not require surgery that with cage rest it will be fine its a stage 2/3 luxating patella issue. Their vetting covered so far by the rescue has been around 2000.

HANNAH is a stunning long haired Chihuahua. Shes approx 8 to 10 yrs old and 12 lbs but losing weight that came into rescue when her owner became extremely ill. She has required everything to be done from a complete physical, blood work, vaccines, heartworm, lymes, fecal, and urine testing, a dental, and we are getting an ultrasound to see if shes been spayed. Her vetting has been over 500. We still need the dental and ultrasound for confirmation of if an actual spay has been done. If shes not spayed then it will need done. I can get an actual price on that as well.

We have HUGO a sweet blonde boy that we received a call from a local shelter that's a friend to rescue that we work with that was in need of help. They were full and he was 3 days in the in-take garage. We found a foster and ran to get this sweet boy. He is a stunning blonde gentleman thats approx 11 yrs old but acts 2 yrs old or younger now and is approx 16 lbs of studly muscles. He was so severely infected when we got him that his labs and urine results indicated he had bladder cancer he was actually peeing blood. He was treated for a severe abcess from horrid dental disease issues that caused a sore to erupt on the outside of his face near his eye and he had a sore on his "manhood" We were told to euthanize him now due to the vet saying he had end stage bladder cancer and wouldnt last long. We couldnt do that to him. We just saved him and he deserved so much more. He deserved to know LOVE and a HOME. We chose the only option for him and us, one of love and a bucket list for him however short his life was going to be. We got antibiotics, pain meds, and steroids to take him home with a furever hospice foster and spoil him rotten to show him true love, that hes special, and that he matters. He was found on the street in Ohio eating "critter or his own poop" so our goal was to give him heaven on earth for whatever time that maybe. He was too sick to even be neutered or have a dental but we were told then he had end stage bladder cancer. So it wasnt an option to put him through all of those things. He wouldnt live through the surgeries anyway. He has a grade 2 cardiac murmur without CHF and no meds and slight arthritis. Time went by and HUGOs infection resolved. He started to act like a puppy. He was acting young, spirited, happy, loved, and healthy. Well, he was not acting like a dying pup at all. We knew we need a recheck or a second opinion for confirmation of his diagnosis. He became a spoiled rotten diva dude in rescue. He is absolutely the sweetest baby that gets along with everyone as well as all pups from different sizes and ages. We took him to another vet. We knew we needed an ultrasound and biopsies done for confirmation of the bladder cancer and recent blood work. HUGO was no longer our LYR HOSPICE FURBABY he was a healthy boy. He did not have cancer he was misdiagnosed due to the amount of infection it was so bad his blood work at the time of being seen was skewed to be diagnosised as cancer not border line sepsis. HUGO is a healthy, adorable, spunky, and sassy young man that is looking for love. He needs a dental and a neuter now which we will get done. We recently spent 552.00 on him with the recheck and previously over 1800. His neuter and dental estimates are not available yet but can be easily attained. I just need to reach out to his foster and/or the vets office its usually 700.00 or less for a male depending on teeth available that are in the mouth left for cleaning along with an xray for jaw involvement and abcesses, then the extractions to be done. I honestly think he only has 5 teeth left. Neuters at most Vets offices are weight based along with the meds given for sedation to intubate, to keep under for the procedures along with after care meds. He is looking for his forever home also. Hes absolutely a gorgeous, well-mannered, and sweet boy .

We ask for a donation for the furbaby, pup, dog upon adoption and its never what we have in them. All of them are microchiped upon adoption also. I personally have a liver shunt furbaby that was 5000 plus. Weve raised alot of money for these pups without doing it this way. This option/route is new for us to explore. So, I apologize at my approach being random. We know so many are in need from shelters and rescues. Weve had to turn away numerous pups to our rescue but to actually turn to our "sister rescue friends" have them take the pups for us and then network them out if they dont require any vetting. Because we just dont have the fosters nor the funds available at the present time. I know its asking alot but if you all could donate just a few dollars to help some really sweet furbabies in need. Who truly have suffered immensely get better to cover some vetting for them to get healthy. We are trying to start them on their wellness journey to their furever love, happiness, homes, and pain-free lives that they deserve. I will gladly go into greater detail about them

thats what I do for the rescue my contribution. I write their stories, their traumas, their illnesses, their fears, their handicapable issues, etc... I tell their stories through their eyes in hopes of raising donations and finding them their furever homes. I am their temporary voice. They win me over from the first call, text, message, picture, etc... We in the rescue work as a team to save them. We immediately start a massive game plan with Donna Rickard our President, Judys Page our VP who start the process by accepting the furbaby into rescue and with our amazing Crafting Team to start planning ways of making money. After they let me know we have a new "foster" we start the stories and start getting it out there that we have a furbaby or furbabies coming. Our amazing but very small team of crafters Edith Lee, Barbara Brush, Laura Tolbert, and Michele Nethers start planning "waffles" and items for our monthly auctions to provide for their vetting costs. We reach out to our fosters/transport teams to see whose available to start making this rescue happen especially if its urgent/an immediate need. The 911 calls start immediately to Ernest Thom, Vickie Bogdan Tho, Towanda Mcgillicutty, Melissa Rust Oleksa, Kelly Goodson, Kevin Kuhn, Marie Clarke, John Heeg, Staci Starkweather, and Sandy Creason Borders we have others but these are the ones we can get a rapid response from to get the ball rolling .....are you available can you foster one or a bonded pair can you drive 3 hrs --'one way starting now. I hear the pup getting beat ...... this precious furbabies name was SAMMY. This rescue maybe small but boy do we have heart and fight. We truly are " IN IT TO WIN IT" with these furbabies. We definitely put the pups and their needs first. It sometimes is upsetting to people, they tell you they will just have to go to a breeder. They tell you that you dont know dogs!?!? I beg to differ.... we have and get them ALL from seizures, CHF, murmurs grade 2 thru 6, cancer, chemo, chiari-like malformation, luxating patella, separation anxiety, dental disease, skin issues, alopecia, sepsis, abuse, malnourished, infections with 3 staph infections, liver shunt care prior to surgery, liver shunt surgery, post liver shunt surgery care, arthritis, degenerate disc disease, cushings, hypothyroidism, severe allergies, domestic violence, breeder mommas, border-line sepsis, possible broken jaw or collapse due to lack of dental care, HGE, pancreatitis, collapsing trachea, bronchial collapse, severe ear infections requiring TECAs with hopefully just temporary facial paralysis, severe allergic flagyl reactions post liver shunt surgery resulting in stroke like symptoms- my pup was just a head not able to do anything....told by the Neurologist it will kill her if ever given the med again, luxating patellas with surgery with bilsteral muscle, tendon, ligament revision all the way down the leg with 8-10 weeks cage rest, severe arthritic ankles, pyometeria-sepsis-death, paralysis, severe congenital inbreeding issues, prepuceplasty, bottle feeding 4 pups at 5 weeks of age because the momma is severely sick that she and her bonded boyfriend the daddy have to be syringe fed and syringe hydrated all 6 medicated and extremely ill to the point of sepsis. They were used to eating and living off their poop and the cat poop. The momma dog, a pup herself had such mastitis she hadn't fed those pups in awhile but tried they all 6 especially the 2 runts and the momma could have died. A pup beat so bad he started having seizures, lost both eyes and went to the Rainbow Bridge in his parents arms after only 18 months his name was SAMMY. One that had to walk on her front legs only in a " walking handstand" she couldnt use her back legs. Her name is DAISY LOU. All of the above cases and sooo many more medical, abuse, cruelity cases etc...
The rescue manages with GRIT and GRACE.

Please reach out to me, Michelle Jenkins Maack, Judys Page, our VP and/or Donna Rickard, the President for more information about the pups or what is needed for them. PIXIE is our most critical case and going to be the most costly one. Weve had pups cost 15,000 plus go on to live amazing long lives. If you can donate just a few dollars it would be wonderful and we/they appreciate it so much. If you've never been owned by a pup, a pet. Its an amazing reward and so addictive. I invite you to come make friends, come join the rescue sites I mentioned. You just might meet the love of your life. He or she will probably have 4 legs but the unconditional love will be amazing- its addictive. What an amazing journey you will have. We thank you so much for taking the time to meet us. We look forward to hopefully meeting you. The fact that you maybe joining some crazy yorkie/small breed pup people soon....if your not scared of extremely cute and sassy pups.

I will gladly go into greater detail about them thats what I do for the rescue my contribution. I beg to differ.... we have and get them ALL from seizures, CHF, murmurs grade 2 thru 6, cancer, chemo, chiari-like malformation, luxating patella, separation anxiety, dental disease, skin issues, alopecia, sepsis, abuse, malnourished, infections with 3 staph infections, liver shunt care prior to surgery, liver shunt surgery, post liver shunt surgery care, arthritis, degenerate disc disease, cushings, hypothyroidism, severe allergies, domestic violence, breeder mommas, border-line sepsis, possible broken jaw or collapse due to lack of dental care, HGE, pancreatitis, collapsing
The rescue manages with GRIT and GRACE.

The fact that you maybe joining some crazy yorkie/small breed pup people soon....if your not scared of could walk alittle to show you her alopecia.Hello, everyone I want to introduce to you a very special cause(s) and tell you briefly about a Rescue I help with in Lorain Ohio, Little Yorkie Rescue. To start extensive trainingfor a comfort level for them to adjust to such things as simply leash walking and potty- house training. The amazing lengths these great people, this team goes to save dogs.

We've already spent 2000 on her left knee for an Ortho surgery at OSU for a luxating patella surgery with bilateral muscle, tendon, ligament revision from knee down due to a "questionable human related injury." She, her pack (we rescued 2 more from that home. Her dad OLLIVER then a female pup MAGGIE MAE the title is actually truly unknown to us its either LILYs mom/aunt/sister/cousin and has been told 3 different ways what her "TRUE" role is in LILYs life ) The lady out of fear who reached out to us in serious and desperate need to save them. She called in an urgent plea that it was very serious and needed to get them out now when one of them was physically thrown the other small girl, MAGGIE MAE. She was violently thrown to the floor in a fit of rage. She tried to catch herself out of fear and protect herself. They were ALL living in a domestic violence situation. The man had done jail time for harming the woman in the past. So, we went running to save them. We met OLIVER & MAGGIE MAEs new mom 5 hrs away. These babies are living their best lives protected, safe, heslthy, healing, and loved with their paralyzed fursister NYLA that we had saved a few years ago from a cruelity case.
LILY also has a grade 6 cardiac murmur and on a Blood Pressure med twice a day but she is not in CHF yet.
