Dear Friends,
We are reaching out with heavy yet hopeful hearts on behalf of our dear friends, Meghan and John, and their brave and precious 5-year-old daughter, Maddie. Recently, Maddie was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart condition called Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (PAPVR). In her case, the veins from her left lung drain into the right side of her heart instead of the left, causing her heart to work overtime — as if she’s constantly running a race. Left untreated, this condition can lead to serious complications affecting both her heart and lungs.
Maddie is scheduled to undergo open-heart surgery on July 10, 2025, to correct this condition. Because of her unique anatomy — including dextrocardia (a heart positioned on the right side of her chest) and reversed lung placement — the procedure will be especially complex. Surgeons will reroute her pulmonary veins to the correct side of the heart and create a small opening between the heart’s upper chambers (an atrial septal defect) to help balance blood flow and reduce strain on her lungs. While the surgery is expected to significantly improve her health, the recovery process will require time and care.
As you can imagine, this is an overwhelming time for their family — emotionally, spiritually, and financially. We want to ease some of their burden so they can focus on what matters most: Maddie's healing and recovery.
We humbly ask for your support. Your donation, no matter the size, will help cover the cost of Maddie's surgery and provide some relief to her family during this difficult time. Most importantly, we ask for your prayers — for Maddie's strength, for her doctors’ wisdom, and for Meghan and John’s peace of heart.
As a Catholic community, we are called to care for one another, to lift each other up in times of need. Meghan, John, and Maddie are part of our family, and now is the time for us to surround them with love and support.
Please consider making a donation and sharing this with others who may feel called to help. Together, with faith and generosity, we can help Maddie's heart heal.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your generosity. May God bless you abundantly for your compassion.
With gratitude and hope,
Friends of Meghan, John, and Maddie
