We are sharing our story with care, gratitude and with hope for support during a very tender time for our family.
My name is Vanessa Boulay and I am a mother to two beautiful daughters, Azalea and Vianna. Azalea is just 19 months old and recently our lives shifted in ways we never could have imagined when she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Cancer.
Initially, it was a very large tumor (10cm in diameter) which fully enveloped her left kidney. Nothing prepares you for hearing something like this about your baby.
Over a week ago, Azalea underwent major surgery to remove both the tumor and her left kidney. Watching her go through something so big at such a young age has been incredibly humbling and emotional.
We are deeply thankful that the surgery went well and that she is now beginning her recovery.
As we move ahead, our intention is to support Azalea's healing as fully and gently as possible. Alongside conventional medical care, we are choosing an integrative and naturopathic oncological approach to help strengthen her resilience, nourish her growing body, and support her overall wellbeing, especially as she learns to thrive with one kidney.
This path includes specialized naturopathy, oncological care, therapeutic nutrition, herbal medicine, IV therapies, and ongoing holistic support. These therapies are meant to complement, not replace, conventional medical treatment, including chemotherapy.
Many of these supportive therapies are not covered by OHIP and the costs add up quickly. In addition, this experience has impacted my ability to work. Funds raised will also help cover essential daily living expenses including housing, food, transportation to medical appointments, support for Vianna, and basic household needs, allowing me to stay present and grounded for my girls during this time.
Vianna, who is 9 years old, has shown such tenderness and strength as she watches her little sister go through this. My deepest hope is to keep our home feeling safe, steady and full of love - to be the mother both my daughters need while navigating this uncertain season.
Any support, whether through donation, sharing this page, and/or holding our family in your thoughts and prayers, is received by us with heartfelt appreciation. Every contribution will go directly toward Azalea's ongoing care and our family's daily needs as we move through this healing journey together.
Thank you for being here, for caring, and for supporting our family in this moment.
With deep gratitude,
