Lissett Lopez and Lupita Martinez are two Latina educators and self-published authors from Los Angeles, California. In 2024, they published Abuelita y yo, a bilingual children's book about the magical love between a grandmother and her granddaughter.
What began as a passion project has manifested into a mission to create a series of literary works that resonate with the Latinx community. Seeing the impact of their first book inspired Lissett and Lupita to write a second bilingual children's book, Abuelito y yo, highlighting the teachings of a grandfather to his grandson.
The authors saw a need for bilingual children's literature that features a strong male lead, and have embarked upon the journey of self-publishing their second book.
With their first book, the authors took on the costs of illustration, formatting, publishing, and marketing. Lissett and Lupita are humbly asking the community for support to help cover the publishing costs for Abuelito y yo. Thank you for considering donating to this project and supporting bilingual children's literature!
