On August 9th, Lisa’s life changed in an instant. She was rear-ended on the freeway after stopping for traffic, and the impact pushed her car into the fast lane, where she was struck by multiple vehicles. The force of the collisions ejected her from her car, but despite her injuries, Lisa managed to get back inside before her vehicle was hit two more times. She suffered a skull fracture and a traumatic brain injury (TBI), injuries that may forever alter the course of her life. Lisa was released from UCI in Irvine, but she continues to experience constant pain and weakness, and she must follow up with a neurosurgeon as her recovery continues. Multiple CT scans have been needed to monitor her condition, and the road ahead is uncertain and challenging.

Lisa is a deeply compassionate and loving person, always ready to help others and never afraid to speak her mind. She was in her first semester of nursing school and was set to take her finals the week of the accident. Now, instead of focusing on her studies and her dream of helping others, Lisa and her family are facing mounting medical bills, legal costs, impound fees, and school payments. The sudden financial burden has made an already difficult time even harder.

Lisa is doing much better but still in pain and plagued with constant headaches, stitches have been removed and she is at home, unfortunately she can not taste or smell but will have to follow up with neurology as she has been told it may be a long time before those senses return.
