Support Lisa's Mom in Honoring Dad's Memory

Hello friends, my name is Lisa. I am raising money to help my mother with my father's funeral services. So whether we've known you forever or we haven't met, if you can help us even a little, that makes us friends. We don't have much. My father Joe and I are simple, small town, small time commercial fishermen... Salt of the earth-type people. About 4 years ago, Dad was diagnosed with stage 3 metastatic lung cancer. He beat it for awhile but along with emphysema, it left his lungs pretty debilitated and he spent the last year on oxygen. Recently the cancer returned in his thyroid. The last few years were a struggle to make money since commercial fishing is extremely strenuous and not exactly compatible with oxygen tanks and hoses. Unfortunately, the treatment that prolonged his life eventually took its toll on his system and he passed away Wednesday from congestive heart failure. Mom suffers from M.S. so she can't readily support herself let alone pay for his final expenses. As I am currently a stay-at-home mom to a toddler and a special needs stepchild, we are struggling to make ends meet with a single income until I can return to the Captain's chair. My parents were always there for me when I needed help raising my older children, and since the only thing I currently have to offer is simply being there for mom in her time of loss I am reaching out to you good people to help ease our burden. Dad will be cremated, we will have a service at the funeral home which he requested a priest officiate, and also as per his final wishes, we will feed our mourning loved ones (and hopefully feed them well) at a celebration of his life, which we need to secure a venue and caterer for. All of this will run us just over $6,000 so I have increased our goal amount to make up for the transaction fees. If we reach our goal and beyond, whatever is left will go towards Mom's living expenses. I humbly thank you in advance for your help.
