Lisa Smith is not only my best friend, but she’s also like a sister to me. She’s a devoted mother and grandmother to five amazing kids, and I am so grateful to have her in my life. Over the years, Lisa has shown incredible strength and kindness, always putting her family and friends first. Now, she’s facing one of the toughest challenges of her life.
Several years ago, Lisa was diagnosed with NASH (Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis), a type of fatty liver disease. Unfortunately, her condition has progressed to nonalcoholic cirrhosis, and she is now in need of a liver transplant. On top of this, Lisa is also managing diabetes, which makes her journey even more difficult. She has been in and out of the hospital multiple times, and the toll on her physically and mentally has been immense.
Lisa will need to travel back and forth to UAB for 13 to 15 different pretesting appointments, each requiring separate trips to Birmingham. There will also be doctors appointments and then the transplant. The costs for gas, medicine, food, and other bills are adding up quickly. Every dollar raised will go directly to Lisa to help ease the financial burden so she can focus on her health and her family. Any help you can give—whether it’s a donation or a prayer—means the world to us. Thank you for supporting my best friend during this difficult time.
