For Lisa.
Lisa has been my very best friend, my confidant, a shoulder to cry on, a partner in crime, the yen to my yang for my entire life. She is a real life partner. I love her so very much. I love our daughter Emily as if I was her real parent. Her Dad, Mom and Brothers are like my mom, dad and brothers. They are my family.
On Friday, April 25th I got the text that nobody ever wants to get. "I don't feel right." followed by "Scared." Emily was at my house, I was at work and Lisa's mom & brother were there with her. They called 911 and the EMTs were there pretty quick. After some back and forth Lisa agreed to go to the ER and I am so thankful she did. I am thankful that the cardiac trauma team was waiting on her the moment they rolled her into the hospital.
My best friend and real soulmate was actively having a heart attack. They rushed her to the cathlab and immediately found the blockage and blood clot in her right coronary artery. They were able to keep her stable and insert a stent to get that main artery flowing again. After a few tense hours she was doing well. On the road to recovery. Later we learned there were 2 more stents that needed to be placed to prevent this from getting worse in some other arteries. Today she had surgery and got those 2 stents inserted and is recovering peacefully in ICU now.
The hard part and why I am here. Lisa and her family mean the world to me and I am helping as much as I can. Emily is doing a fantastic job taking care of her at the hospital and communicating with the doctors and nursing staff. She has been a real trouper. Mom although through protest has been at home with shorter visits when possible. Lisa doesn't have any medical insurance and they do not have a vehicle. This is problematic in so many ways. Uber gets expensive and there are many appointments, medications, new cardiac diet, and several other things that have become necessary.
Lisa has a fairly hard road ahead with the appointments and pharmacy requirements on top of the medical bills. I am asking those who can to reach out with prayers, thoughts, good wishes, light and whatever you feel comfortable using to lift Lisa and her family up at this time. If you are able and would like to donate to any of the expenses above I know they would appreciate the help but would never ask for it. (I have alternative payment options if you don't use GoFundMe.) I want them to feel the safety of being able to not miss appointments because they can't get transportation, not take medicine because she cannot afford it and missing doctor appointments for the same reason. I will be working on helping her with some paperwork to apply for appropriate medical assistance.
As those things get into place and the medical bills start rolling in please help me help my family with making Lisa healthy again.
