Support Lisa Weix’s Cancer Battle & Uncovered Bills

Lisa is a devoted wife, mother of nine, grandmother of four, and a cherished friend to many. She is a constant source of support, inspiration, and encouragement to everyone, but especially to girls and women of all ages. Her kindness, mentorship, and unwavering presence has touched countless lives in her family, in her circle, in her community, and beyond.

About three months ago, Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is now facing a challenging health journey of extensive testing and treatments. While she does have health coverage, unfortunately her insurance has deemed that her cancer is considered “pre-existing” due to a diagnostic test done six months prior. When the practitioner read the results, they were not concerned at all. Then, six months later, it was indeed cancer. So, due to the insurance ruling, many expenses will not be covered and are left to be paid out of pocket.

With Lisa’s treatment protocol, she must undergo repeat and on-going tests of all of the following, including MRIs, CT scans, highly technological bloodwork (that pinpoints her specific cancer and the highly specific treatments for it), as well as other ongoing tests, all with very significant costs. Lisa also needs costly medications and supplements, to attack the cancer, which will hopefully also strengthen her immune system. Of course, these are very expensive, too. Each specialist appointment is a two-hour drive each way, adding travel expenses to the growing list of costs.

Lastly, after Lisa’s diagnosis, she made the difficult decision to leave her teaching job (at Faith Christian Academy), so she could fully focus on her health and recovery. So, she isn’t currently receiving her usual income from her job.

For all of these reasons, the financial strain of medical bills, and related costs, has been overwhelming for both Joe and Lisa.

Our hope is to come together, as a community, to help Lisa and her family. We can help ease their burdens, allowing Lisa to focus on healing and beating this cancer vs worrying about how to pay all of the outstanding bills.
