Dear friends and family,

I am writing with a heavy heart to share the unexpected passing of my best friend of 42 years, Lisa Wheeler, on 9/29/24. She was the cornerstone of her family—full of love, laughter, and wisdom. She was so proud of her kids and all their individual accomplishments. Her sudden departure has left all of us devastated and her family struggling to come to terms with this loss.

As they navigate this very sad and challenging time, they are faced with loss of her income, unplanned expenses including funeral costs, and multiple medical bills. The immediate loss of Lisa has also left Gene, Lisa's husband, and their daughter, Gabriella, with the loss of their medical coverage. Lisa suffered with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which is also often referred to as “Hypermobility Syndrome.” It is one of a group of rare genetic disorders that affect connective tissues, blood vessels, and major organ symptoms, causing life threatening complications. In the last three years Lisa experienced multiple debilitating medical complications and hospitalizations, but her strong will and the love of her family gave her the drive to recover. We lost Lisa following one of her happiest days ever, the wedding of her son Zachary. She passed unexpectedly, but peacefully, in the night following this event. Unfortunately, Lisa’s beloved daughter, Gabriella, has inherited this same condition.

We want to honor her memory in the way she deserves, but they need your support.

Lisa is survived by her loving husband Gene, and children Gabriella, Nick and his girlfriend Abby, Zack and his wife Emily, Lucas and his fiancé, Kacy, and Cole.
