On January 7th, 2025, Lisa Vazquez received an abnormal mammogram. By January 22nd, her world was turned upside down with a diagnosis no one ever expects: Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 3B (Left Breast). With no family history and no hormone connection, this diagnosis came completely out of the blue. From that moment on, the Vazquez family entered a whirlwind of appointments, biopsies, scans, consultations, and countless prayers. Just weeks later, on February 17th, Lisa began an aggressive treatment plan that would shape their entire year.

Lisa’s fight has included 24 weeks of weekly chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, weeks of radiation, and six months of oral chemotherapy. Throughout 2025, every step has taken a tremendous physical, emotional, and financial toll on the family. Over the holidays, things took a serious turn when Lisa spent two weeks in the hospital battling sepsis and a blood infection. She is now home, recovering from this unexpected and frightening complication. Recently, Lisa received a positive circulating cancer cell result on a blood test, and doctors have ordered a STAT PET scan to determine whether these cells have attached anywhere else in her body. The family is holding onto hope and inviting everyone to join in bold, unwavering prayer that the PET scan shows no evidence of cancer anywhere in Lisa’s body.

Lisa previously worked in the Lee County School District, and her husband, Fernando Vazquez, is currently a valued member of the district staff. Their children are cherished members of the school community. Many who know Lisa and Fernando—through their work, leadership, and friendship—have been asking how to help. This fundraiser gives us all the chance to stand beside a family who has poured love, service, and kindness into so many others. Your support will help the Vazquez family with out-of-pocket medical expenses, medications not covered by insurance, home care and recovery needs, stability for their children, and meals and daily essentials during months of treatment. Every donation—large or small—helps lift a tremendous burden so Lisa and Fernando can focus on what truly matters: Lisa’s healing and time together as a family. Please join us in supporting Lisa’s fight and keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to support Lisa and her family during this difficult time.

‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’ — Philippians 4:6-7
