Lisa J. is loved by many – most of all by her 4-year-old son Santana. She is an amazing mom, an active member of the North End community, and the type of friend, family member, and coworker who is always there to support others. Now it’s our chance to be there for her.

At the end of June, Lisa’s suspicions were confirmed when she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer. She feels grateful that the cancer was detected early and that prospects are high for a full recovery. And she feels overwhelmed by the enormity of this news and the implications for her and Santana’s lives.

As a single mom living on a tight budget, the financial implications alone are a major burden. In addition to the many costs of treatment and recovery not covered by insurance, time away from work for medical appointments and recovery directly translates into loss of income for Lisa. There will also be costs for child care, and the list goes on.

$10,000 is the estimate of what she will need to make it through her cancer treatment process. Let’s all show Lisa that she is not alone and make her load a little lighter by pitching in what we can. Please also stay tuned for other ways to help.
