After two months of unexplained and worsening pain, our mom, Lisa LeJeune McCartney, was taken to the ER at MU Hospital on April 7th. What we initially thought was a tendon issue turned out to be something far more serious. A CT scan revealed a large mass on her pelvis that had eroded the bone and was pressing against her sciatic nerve. She was admitted immediately.
A biopsy has since revealed a High Grade Malignant Neoplasm—a term that, in short, means an advanced and aggressive cancer. Doctors strongly suspect it is Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer that typically affects children and young adults. We are still awaiting further test results to confirm the exact diagnosis and finalize a treatment plan, which will most likely involve chemotherapy and possibly other intensive interventions.
Our family is navigating a whirlwind of medical decisions, emotional challenges, and the beginning of a long road ahead. We’ve created this GoFundMe to help ease the growing financial burden of mounting medical bills, lost wages, and everyday living expenses during treatment and recovery.
As many know, Mom is a kind, creative, and resilient woman who has always shown up for others. Now, she needs our help.
If you’re able to contribute—whether financially, by sharing this page, or through your prayers and kind words—we are deeply grateful. It means so much to our family during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for standing with us and with Lisa. We will continue to post updates as we know more.
With love and gratitude,
Trish and Travis
