We are rallying around our beloved colleague, friend, and APN, Lisa Mathey, who was recently diagnosed with stage IV cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Lisa began treatment in mid-May and she faces a challenging road ahead — one that we know she will walk with strength, grace, and the same quiet courage she’s always shown.

For more than 20 years, Lisa has been a pillar of compassion and expertise in the Emergency Department at Lurie Children’s Hospital, caring for patients and families with an unwavering dedication. Now, it’s our turn to care for her.

Lisa is not walking this journey alone. She is surrounded by the love of her husband, Matt, and their children, who are the center of her world. As they focus on her healing, we hope to ease some of the financial burdens that come with unexpected medical expenses, time away from work, and the day-to-day needs of a family navigating a difficult diagnosis.

This fundraiser was started by her Lurie Children’s ED family — a team that has had the privilege of working beside Lisa and witnessing firsthand the extraordinary nurse and human being she is.
