Hello! My name is Kady, and I'm the cat mom of Lisa Marie. Lisa (for short) has feline herpesvirus 1 (FHV). While FHV is primarily a respiratory disease in cats, it can intensify other symptoms that, unfortunately, Lisa has. When I adopted her in 2023, she had a couple of teeth pulled due to gingivitis in her mouth. Later that year, she unknowingly contracted FHV from a roommate's cat, which had not been disclosed to have the virus. While the situation was extremely upsetting when I found out there is no reversal, I must preserve her health forever with supplements and lifestyle changes.

"Feline herpesvirus (FHV) does not directly cause tooth loss, but it can contribute to severe gingivitis and stomatitis, leading to oral inflammation and, in severe cases, tooth loss. Oral manifestations like stomatitis and gingivitis can involve gum inflammation, ulcers, and potentially periodontal disease, which can result in feline tooth resorption. The FHV virus can also make cats more susceptible to other viral, bacterial, or secondary infections that impact oral health."

With her pre-existing condition, she has developed severe ulcers in her mouth that cause pain when she eats, grooms herself, and just exists. The vet said the only long-term solution to this pain would be to remove all her teeth. She only has 9 left, so the surgery should only cost $2,000-$3,000, but with aftercare, it could be much more. As a college student, affording this care is out of the question for a while, and I'm doing the best I can to mitigate her pain, but nothing is 100%. Please help me create a better life for Lisa Marie so she can go back to her sassy ways and be the lovely girl she was destined to be.
