Support Lisa Mac McKenney’s Fight Against Parkinson's

I have had an outpouring of messages from so many of you after sharing news about my recent health changes. It felt wonderful to be so loved!

I have made a GoFundMe account because several of you have asked how you could donate or help. So I think this is the best avenue right now to help me navigate my new life.

I have recently been diagnosed with a case of young Parkinson’s Disease. Parkinson’s affects many aspects of my life including my ability to walk, sleep, and make it through a single day. On a daily basis, I am experiencing fatigue, muscle cramping and stiffness, back pain and many other symptoms as well. I am experiencing far more than the traditional visual tremors you may associate with Parkinson's; it is different for everyone.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological disease and I have a HUGE need for immediate and long-term rehabilitation. I am a fighter, and you all know this about me. I have already begun my fight against Parkinson’s, and I’m doing all the things I need to do. You can help me by supporting my costs for medical care which includes things like physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, swallowing therapy (weird huh?), and exercise. Boxing has been proven to be very effective against Parkinson’s progression – and I’m ready to fight!

My goal is to lead as normal and healthy of a life working, parenting ‘the boy’, making art and following my dreams. Your support will help reach this goal, live a LONG life, and keep this pesky Parkinson’s in its place.

As for setting the gofundme goal, my mom said to me many times, “THINK BIG, Lisa, Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land in the stars.”

You know that I am a natural empath/caregiver at heart. Now I am needing help from you. It isn’t easy, changing roles or admitting I need help, but I am learning how to graciously receive help from others.
