Update: Celebration of life will be on January 16th from 4pm to 8pm at Ridgley Fire Department, 101 Sunset Blvd Ridgley MD 21660. January 17th at 11am is the church service at Christ Episcopal Church at 107 Gay St Denton MD 21629. All are welcome to come to both to honor and celebrate the life of a woman that we all loved so much but somehow always seemed to love us more.

Update: unfortunately Lisa passed away last night. She put everything she had into fighting this and trying to be here for her children and grandchildren. More details will be posted when they become available.

Update: it is never a good feeling to update a gofundme. Lisa has gone by a lot of names in the past: Harrison, Maceiko, Bacorn, Gardner. But the most important one, the one that she wears with a badge of true and utter honor, that she loves the most is Mammie. Her grandkids are her whole world and I am lucky enough to have gotten the privilege to witness it first hand. She is "fully" on palliative care now. Her kids and grandkids have been visiting her.

Sometimes she's been forgetting who people are or where they are. She has stopped chemo and all other treatment, we are focusing on keeping her happy and comfortable for what ever time we are gifted with her.

Some of you know that Lisa has a very strong faith in the Lord. I ask you all to pray; not only for Lisa but for her family: her husband Don, her boys Christopher and Michael, and her grandchildren. Pray for peace and healing, for their grief and hurt.

Yes money always helps which is why we decided to set up a gofundme. But prayers, a meal, a thoughtful text, a like and share also help. Lisa was always the first person to reach out and talk and pray for one of her friends. Be like Lisa, have a full heart and unwavering compassion.

Lisa Gardner is more than just my best friend’s mom—she’s like a second mother to so many of us. From the moment I met her and her husband 19 years ago at the fire department, Lisa welcomed me with open arms. She has always made everyone feel at home, ready to help and support anyone in need. Her warmth and kindness have touched countless lives in our community.

Lisa is the proud mother of two sons and has a bunch of grandkids who love her unconditionally. Her family means everything to her, and she has always been there for them, offering love, guidance, and support through every stage of their lives.

Recently, Lisa was diagnosed with cancer, and her illness has brought unexpected expenses that have been difficult for her family to manage. She was just put into hospice care, and her loved ones are now facing financial challenges they never anticipated. During this incredibly hard time, the last thing they should have to worry about is how to cover the costs of care and future arrangements.

We are coming together to support Lisa’s family in any way we can. The funds raised will go toward whatever is needed to help ease their pain—whether it’s hospice care, future funeral services, memorial arrangements, or other related expenses.
