Support Lisa as she fights cancer

In the heart of our caring and supportive community resides an extraordinary woman, Lisa Knight. Lisa has touched many of our lives throughout the years as an amazing coach, teacher, friend, daughter, sister, and aunt. She has devoted her life to others, always putting the needs of everyone else before herself. She has been a mentor, confidante, cheerleader, and shoulder to lean on for so many of us and now it is our turn to support her. She has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer, and after many tests and consultations, now faces a challenging treatment plan.

Lisa will need to endure two months of treatment consisting of a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. She will receive radiation doses five days a week and chemotherapy once a week for six weeks. At the end of the six weeks of consistent outpatient treatments, Lisa will receive additional radiation through implants which are administered via procedures in the hospital.

All of this involves some long days of treatment, that will not only be emotionally and physically draining for Lisa, but due to the complexity of living on an island during treatment, she has decided to temporarily move to Boston. This will allow her to be closer to her doctors and the treatment facility, not have the added stress of traveling every day, and allow her space to recover near friends and family who can regularly check in on her.

We are therefore reaching out to all of you, Lisa’s extended family, to help alleviate the financial burden that she faces. Between the treatments, medical bills, living expenses and challenges that she faces it is critical that she has a united circle of support surrounding her.
