*Update*

My mom peacefully passed away the early morning of October 23, 2024. Donations will also go to services and other related expenses.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and donations.

On September 4, 2024 my mom was experiencing a lot of swelling in her lower legs and feet, she thought it was a reaction to steroids she was on. I begged my mom to go to the ER because I was worried.

As a lot of people know my mom has been dealing with a disease called Sarcoidosis she’s had for some years now. The steroids were prescribed for a flare up.

Turns out it was actually liver failure causing the swelling. She also developed Jaundice.

On September 8, 2024 the dr’s discussed discharging my mom on September 9, 2024 and following up with a Hepatologist about diet changes and getting on the liver transplant list.

The morning of September 9, 2024 came around and her routine blood work came back with a small decline in her kidneys….

Little did we know this was the start of a nightmare.

Her kidneys continued to decline that week. September 13, 2024 the Dr at the hospital called me at work telling me I should come down to talk in person.

I got to the hospital and the Dr proceeded to tell me that my mom’s kidneys were officially failing and this wasn’t abnormal because when one organ fails others can follow.

My mom was not able to speak at that point and very sick and tired. I had to make a hard decision to put her on dialysis, which she would be on for the rest of her life.

After 2 days of dialysis my mom was coherent and talking and doing so much better. Dr’s discharged her on September 22, 2024 where she would do out patient dialysis and work towards her transplant.

October 2, 2024 during her out patient dialysis session the nurse had expressed her concern for her blood pressure being low. That night her blood pressure dropped and she had to be taken to the ER.

Since then it has been a roller coaster. She has been in ICU since with fluctuating blood pressure.

The week of October 7, 2024 we could breathe….

We got good news that her blood pressure was stable without IV blood pressure medication and in the next week she could be discharged to continue out patient dialysis…

October 12, 2024 my mom began getting severe stomach pains and not feeling well. They noticed her white blood cell count was elevated, indicating infection. However, they could not figure out where it was coming from. They started a broad spectrum of antibiotics and her blood pressure started to drop again.

October 15, 2024 they told me she had Valley Fever and still had an infection they were trying to find, so they called in the infectious disease Dr to help.

October 16, 2024 my mom can’t talk…..

October 18, 2024 was a good day. My mom smiled multiple times throughout the day and was talking, requesting certain music and she even did a couple little dances!

October 19, 2024 my mom is very tired, not sleeping well and is having a hard day.

October 20, 2024 infection markers are high again..

My mom is the strongest, most amazing and caring woman ever. She faces every challenge with grace and resilience and this situation is no different. She is a fighter!

She truly needs all the prayers and support she can get.

I wanted to set up this account to fill people in on what’s going on, she’s had sooo many people reaching out wondering why she’s not responding to them. She’s in the fight of her life and needs all the prayers and support she can get.

My mom lives alone. I am hoping this can help ease the numerous medical bills, cost of living expenses, and unexpected costs she has and has coming.

Thank you,

Her 9 month pregnant daughter, Courtney
