We're Matt and Heather Lee.
In 2018 Matt's dad, Larry, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma - a form of blood cancer. He fought hard, and thanks to chemo treatments went into remission a few years later. In February 2025 after contracting a virus, bloodwork was done, and a more severe form of blood cancer was found. As of mid-November, Larry was told there was nothing that could be done. He passed peacefully in his sleep on December 30.
We're raising funds for Matt's mom, Lisa. On top of losing her husband of 45 years, she's having to navigate paying for medical debt from Larry's years of chemotherapy and other treatments, as well as catching up on bills because her employer has not provided family leave pay throughout the course of the time she's needed to be home taking care of Larry, or bereavement now that he's passed. Every day she's not able to work is another day where debt builds.
To add to it, Larry did not have life insurance. Due to the way his retirement fell in his cancer diagnosis timeline, transferring life insurance premiums to Larry and Lisa from the company he retired from was more than they could ever try to afford.
We would love nothing more than for Lisa to be able to take as much time off as she needs to mourn and heal, and that requires paying off medical debt and giving her a cushion to pay her monthly bills while she's grieving.
Any gift is so appreciated.
