Lionel is a clever, video game-loving, duplo-building, playdoh-scupting five-year old who has been recently diagnosed with leukemia. His cancer treatment has been complicated by contracting a life threatening mucor infection at the local hospital shortly after starting chemotherapy. He’s now fighting cancer and the fungus infection at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, which is three hours from his home. He’s facing about a two month inpatient stay. Then, we’ll have years of outpatient care remaining.
