If anyone knows my husband or has ever heard me talk about him, they’ll know Spenser is a crazy cat guy. He has such a big heart for animals, but kitties are his favorite. Linus is one of the Pepper Pals, a litter of feral kittens we took in and fell in love with before getting married. Linus is the sweetest, friendliest, and silliest of them all. He is the cat everyone knows and loves, and for good reason. He’s truly the best boy.

We are preparing to move houses and part of that process is for the cats to temporarily stay with their grandparents so we can do repairs and showings without risk of them getting outside and becoming lost. This is a short term plan until we get moved and bring them to our new home.

Spenser drove the cats to his parents’ home yesterday and shortly after arriving, Linus suffered a medical emergency and was rushed to an emergency vet for life saving care. He went through lab work and imaging before being placed in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and receiving intensive treatment. He has significantly improved as of this morning, but is still in the kitty ICU receiving oxygen and care. The vet is concerned he has a congenital heart condition and will need ongoing special care for the rest of his life.

We try to stay financially prepared for unexpected situations with our pets, but the estimated quote for Linus’ care is far more than we have readily available which is gut wrenching. We have already paid for the initial cost of his care, but there is more coming. The vet is confident he will continue to recover and can hopefully discharge later today, but will need follow up care. We don’t ask for help often, but need to this time so we can get the recommended care for our sweet feline boy. We are so grateful for any support that can be offered.
