Fight for Linni
Most of us are no strangers to the impact of cancer, as many of us have been exposed in one way or another to the devastation the disease can cause. Whether that is through a family member, a close friend, an acquaintance, or a person we work with. Some of us have had to deal with the impact of the disease firsthand, and the aftermath it leaves you and your family. The detrimental effect it takes on the person, not only physically, but emotionally, and financially is overwhelming.
My family has recently had to absorb the reality of this now very real experience. Late this summer Linni had some testing done to provide answers on why she has been experiencing dizzy spells and memory loss. Through rounds of tests and CT scans the Dr’s found a mass on the left side of Linni’s brain. The CT scan was followed by an MRI that determined the mass was 3 ¼” long by 2” wide, and ¾” thick. It was officially diagnosed as stage 4 glioma (brain tumor). The Dr’s immediately completed additional tests and scheduled surgery for October 22nd to try and reduce the size of the mass. Unfortunately, surgery was canceled the day of due to the quick growth of the tumor and the severe risks the surgery would have had on her physically. The news was devastating to Linni and her husband Dennis, and they are working with the Dr’s on alternative options. Linni has started additional treatments, including Avastin to help prevent cancer cells from forming new blood vessels, as well as oral chemo and radiation. They have a long road ahead of them.
Linni and Dennis have been soulmates since grade school. They are experiencing a shock most of us will never truly understand. They are proud people, hard workers, loving parents, cherished family members, and loyal friends. The impact to their lives has been emotionally draining and daunting. We are creating this Go Fund Me page not because they asked us to, but because we want to help relieve some the stress from their shoulders as much as we can. If we can take some of the financial anxiety away from them it will allow them to concentrate on her treatments. Your generosity is greatly appreciated in any way you can help.
