Help Lindy Lana Perez Fight Stage 4 Cancer: Medical Bills, Medications, and Rent
About Lindy
Lindy is a loving daughter, sister, and friend who has always shown resilience, kindness, and generosity to others. She has been fighting stage 4 cancer, a battle she did not choose but faces with unwavering courage. Despite her strength, treatment costs are piling up, and the uncertainty around when disability benefits will be approved adds to the stress in her daily life.
A little bit about the cancer:
Stage 4 Metastatic Soft Tissue Sarcoma - that is the preliminary diagnosis I was given yesterday.
Metastatic means the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. The cancer is now on my bones. Metastatic DOES NOT mean I am on my last days, but I will probably require palliative care to make the physical body *comfortable from pain* as I continue to live with it.
Paraphrasing the assessment from the oncologist -
'...since this is the 4th recurrence of [sarcoma] cancer, this is now considered metastatic cancer. We will do genetic testing to check for cell mutations, biopsy, CT and PET scans to see how far it's spread in your body. We're not sure that we can do surgery because of all the surgery you've previously had, but we will let the surgeon make that final determination.'
In 2017 i developed stage 2 breast cancer. I underwent the standard treatment plan of chemo, surgery, and radiation. I beat breast cancer.
However, the radiation exposure from 2017, when I was battling that cancer, is what caused this secondary cancer.
There is no cure. The cancer is a rare type. Chemotherapy is barely effective on this type of cancer that's why i declined that option initially. Radiation is not an option. Surgery is questionable because I barely have any skin left from all the previous surgeries. Chemo is "Let's at least try and hope for the best". Chemo, they said, will only serve to SLOW the progression - it will not eliminate the cancer.
What Lindy Needs
Lindy urgently needs financial support to cover:
Medications and supportive treatments
Ongoing medical bills and co-pays
Rent to keep a stable home during treatment
Transportation to appointments and related expenses
Goal: $5,000 (to cover immediate medication costs, bills, and rent while she awaits disability approval)
If we surpass the goal, any extra funds will go directly to Lindy's medical expenses, essential supplies, and future needs related to her care.
“After a difficult diagnosis, Lindy has faced every day with grace and determination. She stays connected with family and friends, strives to maintain independence, and continues to fight for every moment of quality life. The costs of treatment, medications, and maintaining a home have become overwhelming, and disability benefits process has been slow. This fundraiser is a lifeline to keep her stable during this challenging time.”
How the Funds Will Be Used
Medications and treatment-related costs: 60%
Rent and essential living expenses: 25%
Transportation to appointments and support services: 10%
Unexpected medical supplies and emergencies: 5%
