Hi everyone,
I never imagined a solo ski trip would change my life in an instant. On February 8, 2025, I was involved in a collision with a snowboarder at Sierra-at-Tahoe, resulting in a torn ACL in my left knee. Since I was alone on the trip, I had to take an ambulance to the ER, where they confirmed the tear. After being discharged, I found myself stranded in South Lake Tahoe until my incredible dad and Aunt Virginia drove from Salinas to pick me (and my car) up and bring me home.
Since then, I've been on bed rest, focusing on healing, and making as much progress as possible before my ACL reconstruction surgery, which is scheduled for March 21. If they find damage to my interior meniscus, my recovery could be even longer. At the very least, I’ll need a week off post-surgery—possibly more—but unfortunately, that time will be completely unpaid.
While my leadership team at Pinterest has been incredibly supportive, my contract includes very little PTO, and I've already used what I had. After spending over ten months unemployed between 2023 and 2024, my financial situation is still precarious. Now, I’m facing at least $6,000 in medical expenses on top of lost wages, and it’s a huge, unexpected financial burden.
Many amazing friends and family members have asked how they can help, and honestly, donations to help cover my surgery costs and basic expenses while I recover would mean the world to me. I’m beyond grateful to have a strong support system—my dad has been driving me to every appointment and even built a ramp into the house so I wouldn’t have to hop a big step. My brother, sister-in-law, and cousin Alexis (who is also my housemate) and so many others have been incredible in helping me navigate this difficult time.
Any amount, big or small, would be deeply appreciated and would help ease the financial stress of this already challenging situation. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser would be an amazing way to support me.
Thank you all so much for your kindness, generosity, and encouragement. I can’t wait to get back on my feet—literally!
With gratitude,
Lindsey
