Lindsey's Story

My best friend Lindsey Olides is one of the most loving, strong, funny and gentle people I know. She’s a devoted mother to her brilliant 4-year-old daughter, Stella; a loyal friend; and the kind of person who makes everyone around her feel valued and loved. Even on the hardest days, Lindey’s kindness, humour, and quiet strength brighten the lives of everyone around her.

Now, she’s facing the hardest challenge of her life.

Two weeks ago, Lindsey was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour due to its location. The cancer is a type of astrocytoma, and doctors are still analyzing the biopsy to determine the exact subtype. What they do know is that high-grade cells are present, meaning the tumour is aggressive and requires immediate treatment. Over the next several weeks, Lindsey will undergo radiation and chemotherapy in the hopes of shrinking the tumour and reducing her symptoms. This will be followed by several months of chemotherapy, after which her treatment will adjust based on how her body responds. It will be a long and demanding journey, and our goal is to ensure she has the financial support to focus fully on her health, caring for Stella, and making the most of the moments in between.

Not long before her diagnosis, Lindsey landed an amazing job at a company she was really excited about. But due to her illness and the demanding treatment ahead, she is no longer able to work. This loss of income, combined with the costs of everyday living and caring for her daughter, is already creating a big financial strain.
