Today, I’m writing to you with a HEAVY heart and a deep plea for help for our best friend, Lindsey. She is a 41-year-old hard working devoted single mother of 16-year-old twins. A few years after achieving her dream of buying a home on her own, she discovered—by a miracle—that she had cancer in her left eye. Diagnosed with choroidal melanoma, she underwent surgery and plaque radiotherapy to save her life.
In 2021, Lindsey faced an even more daunting battle. Completely unrelated to her previous diagnosis, she learned she had ovarian cancer. This meant two major surgeries and enduring six rounds of aggressive chemotherapy. In September of 2023, her Ovarian cancer returned, advancing to stage 4, and spread to her liver.
On November 4, 2024, Lindsey received devastating news. Despite enduring another eight rounds of chemotherapy and taking daily treatment pills that left her feeling sick, the cancer is now resistant, more aggressive, and spreading. Her latest PET CT scan revealed that the past year of treatments unfortunately did not work. In a world where every moment counts, time seems to be slipping away.
On November 7, 2024, Lindsey began a third, intensified chemotherapy regimen with a 40% chance of success. If this treatment doesn’t work, her doctors have estimated she may have six months or less. But Lindsey refuses to give up. She is relentlessly searching for other treatment options across the country. On November 15, 2024, she will travel to New York City to meet with a specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, hoping to find more options. After New York, she’ll seek further consultations at MD Anderson in New Jersey and Dana Farber in Boston.
This diagnosis is every mother’s worst nightmare, but Lindsey’s focus is not only on herself—it’s on her children and their future without her. She is scared. Her greatest fear isn’t the fight she’s facing; it’s the thought of her children navigating life without their mother by their side. Her children are very worried and fearful.
Lindsey’s deepest wish is to see her children grow, to watch them graduate, and to stand by them through life’s challenges. Her heart aches knowing she might miss so many of their milestones—the triumphs and moments only a mother can hold close. The “tattoos on the heart” every mother cherishes.
After her initial cancer diagnosis, Lindsey was denied life insurance. Now, unable to work due to the toll of treatment, she struggles just to cover her mortgage and daily bills, let alone the mounting costs of seeking new hope across the country. Though her cancer is deemed incurable, we are praying so hard to at least extend her time.
With unimaginable pain, Lindsey faces the harsh reality of leaving her children not only with the weight of her loss but with financial uncertainty. With every ounce of her strength, and the support of those who love her, she continues to fight this cancer battler her hardest once again.
We are raising funds to ensure Lindsey’s children have what they need to finish school, follow their dreams, and find hope in a future without their mom. Your support will give Lindsey peace of mind, knowing her children will be cared for, even on her hardest days. The funds will cover travel for new treatments, meals when she’s too weak, and ease the weight on her parents, who’ve been by her side every step of this fight.
If you know Lindsey, you know she has a light so bright it fills every room! She is always there to offer her love to everyone, just a kind loving soul who smiles through life even when she is hurting inside! Her strength is beyond admirable! Her greatest wish is to leave her children with a legacy of strength and security, a mother who fought for them with EVERY breath.
If Lindsey’s beautiful smile, her kindness, laughter, and friendship have touched your life in any way, please, help us lift her up. EVERY donation, EVERY message, and EVERY shared story reminds her children that they are cherished and that their mother’s love will guide them, even when she can’t be there.
Thank you for helping our beautiful friend, Lindsey. Your support means everything to us in this heartbreaking time. We love you, Lindsey, with our WHOLE hearts. 11:11
