Hi! My name is Angel Gray, and I hate to have to do this, but I'd like to try to raise some money for my 35-year-old daughter who suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on Nov 2 at work and was transported to Baptist Floyd Hospital and later to UofL. They immediately put in an external ventricular drain tube to drain pressure. On Nov 4, she went in for surgery at 5 am and came out of surgery at 6:15 pm. A big portion of her skull was removed to place clips on the aneurysm. During surgery, the aneurysm ruptured again and also had one in the carotid artery. She is a miracle to have made it through this. She then had angiograms every other day for 2 weeks to help stop vasospasms, where they injected a relaxant into the arteries/veins to keep blood flowing. During one of these procedures, at some point, she had a stroke. On Nov 8, she tested positive for the flu. She had a trachea put in to get direct access to her airway and to keep her lungs clear. On Nov 18, she was taken off the ventilator. On Nov 20, she managed overnight to pull the drain tube out of her head. On the 22nd, she had a permanent shunt placed. On Nov 22, she was trying to tell me something, so I gave her a pen & paper, and she was able to write, 'I love you & Jayden & Grandma!' I cried tears of joy being able to read this. (Jayden is her 15-year-old son.) My girl is such a fighter! On Dec 2, she was moved to Frazier Rehab for speech, OT & PT. On Dec 18, she was then moved to a nursing facility for rehab. This has been a nightmare. Due to insurance purposes, she hasn't received much 'real therapy.' At some point during the angiograms, she suffered a stroke, which we were not told about. So, she is paralyzed on the left side, and the right eye's optic nerve is damaged, causing her to have blurred/double vision once the eye was finally able to open after all the pressure and swelling. With all she has been through so far, she still has to have another surgery to place a metal plate in her head. Hopefully, once that happens, her headaches will lessen. Believe it or not, she has some good memory, although she does have some short-term memory loss. She would like to be able to come home and possibly receive home care and therapy. She is currently approximately 40-45 miles away from home, making it harder for family to work and then make it to see her during the week. She will need lots of medical equipment such as a Hoyer lift, electric wheelchair, bed, etc., at home and ways to be transported to doctor appointments and medical expenses/bills. I believe God has a purpose for her and that she will one day tell her story. If you find it in your heart to give or just to say prayers, we are very grateful. The power of prayer does work! Thank you, and God bless you!

UPDATE: At her Feb 11th Neurosurgeon appt they said her shunt has worked so well that it drained too much fluid off her brain, so they turned the shunt off so her head will start to plump back up some to look more normal. Surgery is scheduled for March 10th to replace the bone flap and to also do another angiogram. Also at her Dr appt on Feb 6th they talked about doing some botox injections on her hand and foot to try to get some improvement on her left side as she still is unable to use that side. Please keep the positive vibes, prayers etc coming as she still needs those as well. Thank you so very much for the donations! They are deeply appreciated. God Bless each and every one of you!
