In July 2020, my sister Lindsay was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of stage 4 appendiceal cancer. She was only 35 years old when she was diagnosed six years ago, but fought her battle with extraordinary strength. She endured a dozen surgeries, treatments, setbacks, and recoveries with unwavering courage.

In spite of her bravery, Lindsay passed away on July 27, 2026 while in hospice at the age of 41. She is no longer in pain and no longer suffering. Lindsay lived for her daughter Olivia and husband John and was so gratified by the love and support of the rest of her family and friends. Her passing has been devastating to her husband, daughter, parents and me…..and, of course, her friends.

Lindsay and John both had successful careers when she was diagnosed; she as a family photographer and John in sales. As a result of her cancer, Lindsay had to close her photography business this past November and John had to leave his job to be Lindsay’s full-time caretaker. As a result, over the past eight months they used up all their savings and had no income. John is now a single father who will need some help getting back on his feet as he and Olivia navigate a new normal without Lindsay.

Prior donations from contributors have been the lifeline of the family, allowing them to pay their bills and take care of Lindsay and John’s 7-year-old daughter Olivia during this struggle. However, those funds are rapidly getting depleted, and every future donation will continue to help ease the day-to-day financial burdens resulting from Lindsay's passing.

For anyone who feels moved to contribute, your kindness means more than you could ever know. For those who are only able to offer love, prayers and encouragement, please know that these, too, are deeply felt and appreciated. Anything helps.

Lindsay was the most selfless, wonderful human on this planet, and I'm lucky to have called her my other half.

Love,
Her sister, Courtney.
