Support Linda's participation in ATLAS this summer!

Dear friends/kära vänner:

I find it difficult to ask for help. I'm not comfortable doing it. But after I've tried EVERYTHING I CAN and got several rejections...well here we go: (ENGLISH further down)

I februari fick jag det glädjande beskedet att jag blivit antagen till ATLAS-programmet vid Impulstanz i år! Som regel väljs bara 1-2 person från varje land ut att delta. Jag har sökt till Impulstanz (Danceweb) minst fem gånger innan, varav första gången var 2011. Därför känns det helt otroligt att faktiskt ha kommit igenom nålsögat. ATLAS innebär att jag kommer spendera fem veckor i sommar med coachning från koreografen Marco Berrettini , studiotid för eget skapande, gratis workshops, möjlighet att se de nyaste föreställningarna, gratis boende och ett nytt internationellt nätverk under Impulstanz, den största dansfestivalen för nutida dans i Europa, platsen där alla de stora namnen möts och nätverkar.

En vecka senare får jag ett tråkigt besked: Konstnärsnämnden kommer inte stötta mitt deltagande, eftersom jag vid tidpunkten för när beskedet gavs är student. Enligt deras regelverk stöttar de inte någon som studerar när beskedet tas, trots att ATLAS äger rum först i juli när jag inte längre är student. Jag faller alltså mellan stolarna och det finns inga garantier att jag skulle få en plats nästa år. Dessutom är det nu som jag vill försöka fånga momentum, direkt när jag är färdigutbildad som koreograf. Kostnaden för att delta i ATLAS är dock 2900:- euro, en kostnad som Konstnärsnämnden brukar bekosta för de svenska deltagarna som Impulstanz väljer ut. Pengar som jag inte kan lägga ut på egen hand. Jag blev vemodig av beskedet, men fick tips om att söka Culture Moving Europe. Ansökan kändes förvånansvärt bra, jag uppfyllde alla boxar och tänkte att detta verkar klockrent på alla plan. Men efter några veckor fick jag trots detta det dystra beskedet att jag fått avslag. Enligt mailet jag fick var det andra ansökningar som scorade högre än mig. Och då undrar jag vad mer som krävs, när denna möjlighet känns så exklusiv .

Just nu tänker jag såhär:

Jag har gjort ALLT jag kan just nu.

Det går fasiken inte att motivera bättre än det jag gjort i min ansökan. Jag har även bett Svenska ambassaden i Österrike om hjälp, men de kan inte stötta mig. Detta är min chans, den perfekta språngbrädan ut i arbetslivet. Hundratals har sökt och jag har fått en plats. Att få delta i ATLAS är perfekt tajming just nu när jag snart är klar med min Master i koreografi och framtiden är oviss. Det skulle kunna ge mig ett bredare internationellt nätverk, möjlighet att se vad som skapas i Europas dansfält just nu och kunna knyta värdefulla kontakter samt jobba på att skapa ett solo.

Jag ber nu mina vänner och mitt community om hjälp. Jag vet att många av er också är frilansare och inte har en regelbunden lön. Men om 100 personer sponsrar mig med säg...150 kronor ? Så har jag nått hälften och kanske kan ordna hälften själv . Jag tycker detta är svårt att be om hjälp, men jag ber dig stötta med valfri summa, om du har möjlighet till det. Det skulle betyda mycket för mig.

I've been accepted to ATLAS, which is a five week programme at Impulstanz in Vienna. This is the biggest dance festival in Europe, taking place every summer. The fact that I was selected made me very excited and suprised - since I have applied to their dance programs at least five times before, the first time in 2011. It feels like I finding a needle in a hay stack. ATLAS means that for five weeks I would get a coach and studio time for my own creation, as well as free workshops, performances, accommodation and a network during Impulstanz, the place where a large part of the contemporary dance field in Europe meets.

A week later I receive a disappointing message. The Swedish Arts Grants Committee cannot support my participation, as I am being a student at the time of the announcement. According to their regulations, they do not support someone who is studying at the time of the decision, even though ATLAS is taking place in July when I am no longer a student. The cost of participating in ATLAS is 2900 euros, a cost that the Swedish Arts Grants Committee usually pays for the Swedish participants selected by Impulstanz. I was saddened by the news, but was advised to apply for Culture Moving Europe. The application felt surprisingly good, I fulfilled all the boxes and thought that this seems perfect on all levels. But the day before yesterday I got the sad news that I had been rejected. According to the email I received, there were other applications that scored higher than me. I also couldn't get funding from the Swedish Embassy of Vienna.

Right now I'm thinking like this:

I have done EVERYTHING I can right now.

I couldn't have written a better motivation, its soo clear that this is an opportunity that might not come again. Participating in ATLAS would be the perfect springboard into the professional field of choreography for me at this point. It would provide a broader international network, the opportunity to see what is being created in the European dance field right now, I could make valuable contacts and it feels prestigious to have been selected! But apparently this was not good enough to get support.

Dear friends!

If you can support me I would be very greatful. I still find it difficult to ask for, since I come from Sweden where the individualism has in a way created a feeling in me that I need to be able to do everything by myself. But now I ask the community for help.If you can support me, with any sum really, I would be very thankful!
