Linda is currently in the hospital after experiencing seizures and is waiting for an MRI to rule out a stroke. At this time, she isn’t very conscious and can barely speak more than two or three words when she does respond.

My aunt Linda is one of those quiet, steady lights in the world, you know the kind of person who somehow holds everything together even when life keeps handing her loose screws. She’s been working three jobs without a single complaint, settling into a new place and trying to build a little home for herself and her family. And she’s the kind of woman who is always ready to lend a hand, even on the days she can barely lift her own burdens. She pours so much of her energy into everyone around her that you’d swear she runs on some secret battery the rest of us don’t have.

This week, that light flickered.

Linda was admitted to the hospital and is now waiting for an MRI to rule out a stroke. While she was there, she began experiencing seizures, because apparently life decided it hadn’t thrown enough plot twists her way. She can’t work, she can’t keep up with bills, and she’s facing all of this without the safety net she deserves.
