Support Linda's Family After Tragic Fire

Update: I just wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful support. Jess and Dan have returned to Nevada, as they needed to return to work. The support had been wonderful for them and the entire family. They are still recovering from the loss of Jessica and Jason's father last year. After Jess had taken him into their home to tend to his needs after having a stroke and dementia. The continued support is greatly appreciated.

In the early hours of January 24, 2025, the life of Linda Raye Jones was lost to a devastating house fire. Linda lived alone and on a fixed budget; she had no life insurance or homeowners insurance at the time of the fire. To say that family and friends are heartbroken would be a grave understatement. The home is a total loss, and the lot will need to be leveled and cleared of debris. This, on top of funeral, cremation, and travel expenses, has proven too much for her two surviving children and families. We are asking for aid to her two children and families to help lessen the burden. Currently, they have incurred the unexpected travel expenses of returning back to Canton from Reno, Nevada, for Jessica Milligan and her husband and son, with the funeral and the start of sorting through her estate. Probate will be a long and daunting process as any important documents that may have been needed to begin this were lost in the fire.

A memorial service for Linda Raye Jones, 75, of Canton, is scheduled for 2 pm Friday, January 31, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Corey officiating.

Linda passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at her home. She was born October 4, 1949, in Dallas to Fred and Birdie Lee Gibbs Smith.

Linda was formerly a member of the Canton Chamber of Commerce and was once elected Woman of the Year. Linda was very private about her faith but had a close connection to The Lord. She loved music, dancing, cooking, and baking. She remained fun and feisty, often speeding along the roads of Van Zandt County. Linda was always fashionable, classy, and well put together. She had a heart of gold, always generous and open-minded. Linda loved her family more than anything in this world, forever bragging on her children and grandchildren.

Attached is the obituary of this incredible woman. She not only left a lasting impact on her family and friends but the entire Van Zandt County as Linda and the Jones Family have always been active members of the community.

Linda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Dan Milligan; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Lori Jones; grandchildren: Gage Milligan, Isabel Jones, and Sophia Jones; sister, Vicki Smith; nieces: Shelly Chambless and Barbara Akins; great-nieces: Meagan Chambless, Tenisha Greunke, and Brittany Akins; great-great-niece, James Quezada; and other great-nieces and great-nephews.
