Support Linda & Her Fight Against Rare Cancer
Donation protected
On June 15th, 2024, our mom, wife, sister and friend Linda Otness was diagnosed with stage 4 Locally Advanced Plasmacytoid Urothelial Carcinoma (PUC) of the bladder.
This has come as quite a shock, but it is also an answer to a multiple month’s journey to find the source of her pain, and now we know what we are up against. We have since learned PUC is rare and aggressive cancer, that has likely metastasized from her original cancer diagnosis in the Spring of 2023 of Non-Muscular Invasive Bladder Cancer or been dormant the entire time.
Linda is surrounded by love and supported by an incredible team of medical professionals who are guiding her through treatment options. We are moving towards an immunotherapy treatment up at the OHSU Knight Cancer Center. This treatment is effective in suppressing the cancer cell growth and managing Linda’s symptoms. We are also getting set up with the Palliative Care team to help manage her care prior to and following treatment. In addition to the resources at OHSU, Linda visited the Mayo Clinic Minnesota campus, where they gave us a second opinion and helped solidify that we are on the right path. We want to leave no stone unturned.
We've already incurred significant expenses in obtaining this second opinion at the Mayo Clinic, and while there is partial coverage for cancer treatments through her insurance, there are other expenses related to this rare PUC diagnosis we anticipate needing support for. We also plan to use this page for updates as they are available.
We are optimistic about the road ahead and believe in Linda's resilience and faith in Jesus. We are hopeful and standing strong together as a family. Please pray for healing, for pain relief, and for the doctors' hands to be guided by Jesus as they treat and care for her.
If you'd like to send your prayers, well wishes, and words of encouragement for Linda, you can via the contact button under the organizer name below. This will send your message directly to an email we have set up.
We are praying and believe in this Psalm:
“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.” Psalm 145:18-19
