On July 11th, 2025, my rock—my best friend and my mother, Linda McGowan—suffered a severe stroke. As a Registered Nurse with 40 years of dedicated service, she always took her health seriously. Unfortunately, after a heart procedure, a blood clot traveled to her brain and caused this devastating stroke.

Though the surgery to remove the clot was successful, it left Linda with significant challenges ahead. She has lost her speech, much of her mobility on the right side of her body, and some control over her emotions. Yet her spirit remains strong. Over the past eight months, our family and friends have stood by her side, inspired by her resilience and determination.

Linda currently resides in a rehabilitation facility, working hard through the ups and downs of recovery.

Immediate Goals:

• Hire a reputable Senior Care Manager or Social Worker to guide us in making the best care decisions—short and long term.

• Identify a rehabilitation facility better equipped to meet her current needs and help her regain more independence.

• Cover expenses that Medicaid does not pay for, especially as the cost of care continues to rise.

Long-Term Goals:

• Pay legal fees related to Guardianship, Power of Attorney, and/or Conservatorship.

• Establish sustainable in-home nursing care.

• Create a consistent physical therapy plan focused on regaining right-side mobility, improved wheelchair use, and—our ultimate hope—walking again with assistance.

As her son and only child, I have done everything in my power to support her recovery while balancing family and work responsibilities. At this point, I realize I can’t do it alone. I’m reaching out for help—whether through donations, prayers, or sharing our story.
