Dear Community,
The 5th grade students from Lincoln Elementary in Oakland, CA need your support. Each year, our four 5th grade classes go to an outdoor science-based sleepaway camp that provides students with an irreplaceable educational experience with their classmates. This year we plan to attend Mission Springs in Scotts Valley, CA. Historically, there have been enough funds to ensure all students are given the opportunity to join, but this year it seems we are coming up short. This is why we are reaching out to the community for support.
The cost for each child is $300, but we ask our student’s families to donate $175. We lower the price in order to make camp more accessible to all but in some cases, even though a student may want to join the camp, they can’t due to the financial burden. This is why we also want ensure there are enough funds available to pay for those students who truly cannot afford to go.
Mission Springs will be 3 days/2 nights, and during this time students will utilize hands-on science and teambuilding activities to foster positive student relationships and promote environmental stewardship. Your generosity will help cover costs, including bus transportation, to ensure every student can be part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Thank you for your support!
