It breaks my heart to write this, but I have faith in our Almighty God and in our community’s ability to come together in someone’s most strenuous time of need. Our dear friend Lina has been fighting a battle with stage 3 lung cancer on her own. She has been enduring treatments with all the strength she has and has surgery scheduled for the end of the month to remove her lung. I have a special place in my heart for Lina. She is one tough cookie and if you ever need someone to tell you exactly how it is… she’s your girl! Lina opened her home to me when I had not a dollar to my name and no one to turn to. She treated my daughter and I like family and I will forever be grateful to her. Anyone who knows Lina knows she would do anything to help someone else! Please find it in your hearts and in your wallets to show up for her. If you can offer a ride or a hug, it’s better than nothing! Transportation, living expenses, medical bills, preparedness for the unknown, and trying to reduce financial stressors have become truly overwhelming. When it rains it pours—truly! Her car is not running so she is depending on others or having to pay for transportation to her treatments. With no income due to illness, things just keep stacking against her and savings is being depleted rapidly.
