Linamaria, my best friend, has always been a beacon of love and kindness. At just 38 years old, she has faced more challenges than most, living with diabetes since she was four. Despite never having a father and growing up in a low-income family with only her mom and brother, Linamaria’s spirit remained strong. She was dedicated to her health, regularly attending dialysis, even as her heart struggled, working at only 20 percent capacity. Recently, her heart gave out, and although doctors were able to bring her back after three minutes, her brain didn’t get enough oxygen. The damage was severe, and now both her front and back lobes are gone, leaving her brain dead.

Linamaria leaves behind an 18-year-old son who was about to graduate high school. She won’t get to be there for him as he celebrates this milestone, and her absence will be deeply felt by her family. Through all of this, Linamaria never lost her loving nature. She was a highly spiritual person, always giving and caring, and she loved to help and be there for others. Her big heart touched everyone she met, and her generosity was endless. She even saved my son’s life when he was just two months old, showing how much she cared for those around her.
