I’m reaching out with vulnerability and hope.

This year took an unexpected turn when I experienced a series of medical emergencies that left me physically, emotionally, and financially drained.

Both trips—one to visit friends in Atlanta and another to attend an ATEEZ concert in Chicago—were booked well in advance, back when I had no idea that anything was wrong with my health. What began as joyful plans quickly turned into emergency room visits:

While in Atlanta, I had to cut my aquarium trip short due to a sudden medical episode. The ambulance ride and ER visit (including MRI, CT, labs, etc.) totaled nearly $6,000.

Shortly after, I was rushed to the ER again during the ATEEZ concert in Chicago, leading to a little over $4,000 in medical bills for labs and urgent medications.

Eventually, I learned that my gallbladder was the root cause. I now need surgery to have it removed—an urgent but necessary step to prevent more health scares. The cost of the surgery is about $8,683.34, and I’ve already made a $600 down payment to secure the procedure.

I’ll also be out of work for 3 weeks while recovering. I work 32 hours per week at $17.50/hr, so that adds another layer of financial stress. While I’m fortunate to live with my mom and don’t pay rent, I still cover my own groceries, essentials, and medical costs.
