This page was created to help Lily Recendez and her family with medical bills, help cover daily expenses for her family while they are in Seattle and help relieve some of the financial burden on her parents.
Lily was admitted to the hospital in July and diagnosed with ITP, which is an autoimmune disorder where her body attacks her own blood platelets. During her visits in July and again in October she received immunoglobulin IV treatments. These are very expensive treatments.
On Wednesday, November 20th Lily experienced bleeding in her brain and had to be life flighted to Seattle for a craniectomy to relieve the pressure. She also could not move the right side of her body. Lily has been in the ICU since arriving in Seattle. She was able to move her right leg & foot, and she passed the breathing test. They hope her breathing tube can be removed soon.
Tomorrow (11/23/24), Lily may be moved to the Children's hospital. Once there they can focus on getting her platelets up and stable. Lily and her family will be in Seattle at least 2 weeks and possibly more. After that she will likely require inpatient rehab in Seattle and finally, they will reattach the part of the skull they removed.
If you've met Lily, you know that she always has a smile on her face. She is caring, respectful and kind. She has been unable to do many activities since this diagnosis. Which can be very hard on a teenager. Even with everything going on her smile remains.
- This page was set up by Jaime Ewan for Lily and her family. My daughter Annabelle and her friend Sylviajean have gone to school with Lily since preschool. It was their idea to start this fundraiser for their friend. It has been so hard for them to see Lily going through this diagnosis.
