Hi, my name is Erin, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share some life-altering news about my 9-month-old niece, Lillian.
Following a series of troubling rapid eye movements that led to a 4-day hospital stay, Lillian was diagnosed on 8/7/24 with a large, inoperable brain tumor known as an optic pathway glioma. Tragically, this tumor has spread to other parts of her brain and her spine, impacting her eyesight and threatening her future development.
Lillian has begun an intensive chemotherapy regimen at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, where she will be receiving weekly treatments for the next year. This rigorous schedule is vital for her fight but also incredibly demanding, especially given her age. We are still awaiting final biopsy results, which we hope will confirm that her tumor is a low-grade type. Additionally, Lillian will undergo MRIs every three months to track the tumor's response to treatment, and we remain hopeful for positive news showing shrinkage.
Amid these overwhelming challenges, Lillian continues to be a joyful and resilient baby, her smile and happy disposition bringing light to our lives. Supporting her parents, Heather and Nick Toombs, is crucial as they navigate this grueling treatment schedule while preparing to welcome a new baby to their family in November. The financial burden of medical costs, ongoing treatments, and hospital expenses is substantial, and your support is critical in providing relief during this trying time.
Any donation, no matter how small, will significantly ease their financial strain and allow Heather and Nick to focus on Lillian’s care and well being. Your generosity and compassion are deeply appreciated and give us hope and strength as we face this difficult journey together.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers!
