URGENT! We need help bringing Lil Bit home and animal control will only hold him up to 7 days! So we have until Sunday the 26th to get him out ❤️

TL;DR

Lil Bit has been lost since May at the RV park but in the past few weeks he has been spotted!!!!!! Finally, one of the residents at the park caught our elusive boy!! Unfortunately, we had to move to New Mexico early September due to financial issues, to be closer to my mom and to try to heal our broken hearts. Now we just need to figure out how to get our Bitty-Boy back to us, which is why we are here. He is safe at animal control in Illinois and we are currently coordinating with a flight nanny to bring him down to us!

Long Version

May this past year was rough, after two huge losses (River and Helen). The most rotten cherry on top was coming home the night of May 30th to find that our boy Lil Bit was missing. He had gotten out! While we were grieving, it was very apparent that this crazy boy was the life of our home. He was the one bringing all the heartfelt snugs and silly energy to us and our three senior cats. So, without him... we've all been lost.

LB's back story: When we moved into our RV full-time in January 2024, there were two little kittens near the dumpsters that were braving the cold. We checked on them and fed them periodically as temps were hitting -15°F at night. Then one day there was only one TINY grey kitten that was showing up. That was when it was decided we would bring him inside. This didn't happen until March due to him being incredibly tentative around people. After daily visits, sitting in the woods, telling him "You're Safe!" from afar, he got closer and closer every day but was still looking at me like I was a crazy woman while I waved around a feather on a string.... He didn't know what playing was and he didn't know what love felt like. THEN he finally let us touch him and never looked back!!! When we went to bring him inside, this little bugger just walked right into the crate!

Back to the last 5 months, Michelle and I spent sleepless nights walking around the park calling Lil Bit's name, setting up traps, and crawling under SO MANY RVs. Our boy was nowhere to be found. We even bought a camera to look into all the nooks and crannies in the area as well as a thermal gun to help spot him. Still nothing. FB postings led us to a wonderful human who helped us trap a grey cat she had started seeing coming around the same time LB was lost. It wasn't him. This sequence kept repeating itself and broke our hearts over and over again when it wasn't him.

Early this September, Michelle and I came to the conclusion that we were stuck in an endless pit of grief where we were. Then for financial reasons, we took the HUGE step to move away to New Mexico and to be closer to my mom. Leaving Lil Bit and still not having answers was the heaviest and hardest part.

FINALLY SOME HOPE SHINES THROUGH.... In the past few weeks, a grey cat fitting our boy's description had been spotted around the RV park and near the lot we stayed at. Another lovely soul took it upon herself to try to trap this kitty. Lots of attempts eventually led to success trapping that little stinker.... IT IS OUR LIL BIT!! What a crazy world we live in!

Now, Lil Bit is safely chilling at the local animal control in Illinois, and we are currently working with a flight nanny to get him back home to us. But we are still in a state of financial struggle and are asking for help with travel fees as well as to get him fully vetted to make sure he and the rest of our flock are safe and healthy. Any donation would be incredibly helpful in keeping us out of more debt and to relieve some of that devastating stress/anxiety around this whole situation.
