My name is Stephanie and I am putting my pride aside & humbly asking for your help to help save my dog's lives. In the past few months, 3 of our dogs have been diagnosed with three different cancers.
Having one dog with cancer is a lot but to have 3 at the same time is overwhelming in every way.
I am drowning emotionally and financially.
Gage is our 4 year old Heeler, Goofy boy, lover of life and playing fetch with balls and tug of war. I rescued him from a life of living tied up on a 6' tie out. He was tied onto the bumper of an old truck when he was about 4 months old. He was stuck on the 6' tie out alone 24/7.
A few weeks ago a lump started growing on his rear leg, at first we thought it was an abscess from something, by the time we could get a vet appt, the mass had grown to a tennis ball-sized tumor. And we got the worse diagnosis we could have gotten, Osteosarcoma. He's in an immense amount of pain, even with pain meds, and needs the leg removed ASAP for pain relief and in hopes of keeping the cancer from spreading. It has not matastasized! Thank God. The vet said Gage is young, otherwise very healthy and athletic and. should do really well after amputation. He will require 4-6 chemo treatments after. I also STRONGLY believe in including holistic methods, due to my intense research into this cancer with dogs, we have a solid plan for the holistic side but it's over $200/month.
Gage's surgery to amputate his leg, which he needs to have done IMMEDIATELY, is between $1900 and $2200.
Sweet Annie is a social butterfly and absolutely loves people, in return people absolutely love her. I rescued her the day she was due for euthanasia when she was heavily pregnant. A week later she gave birth to 8 puppies in my closet. Annie is an absolute joy and is my boyfriend's favorite girl. She's in love with him also! Annie has a slower growing but deadly cancer called Mast Cell Cancer. She currently has 4 large tumors that need treatment. Treatment with this cancer is more successful when taking a more holistic approach and there is a whole protocol we are trying to follow, her protocol is about $300/month. This protocol greatly slows down the growth of tumors and can even dissolve them for lack of a better word, and prevent more from growing. This is a histamine-based cancer (I've also obsessively researched Annie's cancer) and surgery to remove the tumors typically only caused more to appear.
And Pax, Pax is my special boy, w've been through so much together over the years. I rescued Pax off of the highway at the literal state line between two states while on vacation. Cars, trucks, motorcycles and semis were dodging him while he was running in the highway. I spent the rest of my vacation attempting to find his owner, what I found out from many different sources in the area was that he was an abandoned dog when he was a puppy in the small town on the state line. He was a long term stray.
The town didn't even have an animal shelter so Pax came home with me and has been my velcro dog ever since.
Pax has protected me several times from abusive boyfriends. I rescued him and he has rescued me right back.
Pax has spinal arthritis that is dealt with with supplements and pain meds. During a routine check up and xrays regarding his arthritis, the xrays revealed an enlarged spleen.
Fast forward to a diagnosis and it's a very bad, very sneaky cancer called Hemangiosarcoma. Basically it's a cancer in blood vessels. And this causes tumors to grow. Typically on the spleen but can also be other places such as the heart and liver. Pax needs his spleen and the tumor on it removed IMMEDIATELY. Every day that it's not removed makes him basically a ticking time bomb. I have to work night shifts and I leave for work full of anxiety and come home in a panic scared to death that he has bled out during the night and died a horrible death alone and without me there with him to help him. At any point in time, he can bleed out as long as the tumor is growing on the spleen, it can rupture at any time. His surgery cost is estimated at $2500 He also needs monthly follow up care to deal with the Hemangiosarcoma after the danger of the spleen rupturing has passed. Of course I've obsessively researched this cancer also.
We do have Care Credit but not a limit anywhere near enough to pay for all of this and two major surgery's and follow up care all at the same time.
I live an isolated life and these dogs are my best friends. They are my life (other than my grown children of course).
I certainly realize moist people are experiencing financial challenges and I'm not sure where this fundraising attempt will go, I'm actually embarrassed to be making one and asking for help but if you've ever had a beloved pet with cancer, you know how expensive and stressful it all is.
If this was one cancer at a time, I could handle it, but 3 at once is beyond....
All of these dogs are full of life and I want desperately to be able to extend their lives and give them the care they need.
All prayers welcome!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart <3
I will post updates.
And thank you from Gage, Annie and Pax.
