My name is Dr. Edward McNeil, and I am a board-certified Internist in Beaufort, SC. I have practiced in Beaufort for more than 40 years in Primary Care medicine. I am currently the President of Lifeline Foreign Missions, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We have been involved in mission work for 18 years.
Life Line Foreign Missions is a small, impactful nonprofit organization in Beaufort, SC, which we started several years ago. We are a Christian based group, whose main focus has been assisted medical care and spreading the gospel in Third world countries.
We have served people in South America, Central America, Africa (Liberia where we assisted in establishing a medical clinic, Uganda, and Zimbabwe), Haiti and in the Caribbean islands.
Life Line Foreign Missions recently visited the Kyenjojo district in Western Uganda, which has a population of over 500,000. During our visit, we provided care to the hundreds of residents over several days. This area is agriculturally diverse, with crops such as tea, coffee, bananas, pineapples, cassava, and sweet potatoes. A small portion of cassava or sweet potato with some water is a common meal for those who struggle to survive on less than $1.00 to $2.00 per day.
Affordable Healthcare is lacking in this area where most of the people are underserved. For so many, they have no facility in proximity to where they live; There's little to no income to cover healthcare costs; also, there is no means of transportation to get to a distant facility.
Uganda currently has a poverty rate of 41%. Infections with malaria, typhoid and other organisms remain the number one cause of death in Uganda. Malnutrition is a major player in the underlying cause of death.
Life Line Foreign Missions group began building a freestanding medical clinic in Kyenjojo, Uganda in March 2025. It is well underway; however, continued funding is needed for completion of the structure (approximately $15,000); along with funding to furnish the building with medical equipment and supplies (approximately $10,000); Hiring staff with six months payments available $7,000 to $10,000; and purchasing of medications for at least a four-to-six-month period (approximately 10,000). We are currently in need of $40,000 to $45,000.00 to complete this project.
Proverbs 19: 17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.
