I've been out as nonbinary for over 7 years and have been on hrt for 6 years this past December. I've had my letters for top surgery for over 3 years now, but the costs of surgery has meant I've had to put off taking care of the biggest and kind of last big source of dysphoria.
I remember having nightmares as a kid, worrying that I'd end up with giant breasts and have always felt a sense of discomfort and disconnect with this particular part of my body.
Given the world, what January brought, and current state of the supreme court,... I'm worried that I may loose the right to receive this self empowering, life changing procedure, and the chance to live out the rest of my life in a body that I feel safe and comfortable in.
Because of the Trump administrations changes to only recognizing 2 sexes and name changes for transgender reason being an issue for people to receive passports, I have unfortunately had to make the hard decision to put off my name change in the hopes that I can still get a passport at all.
Any bit of chipping-in really helps towards the goal. ️⚧️
Once I have enough raised, I can get my surgery booked.
Legal name & sex marker change: ~$450
Surgery after insurance: ~$8,000
Travel/stay for surgery: tbd
