Krista Guloien Temple is currently living with metastatic breast cancer involving bone, liver, and brain lesions. She is alive today due to early access to treatment beyond standard protocols and the support of donors who made that access possible.
Krista was initially diagnosed with ER-positive, PR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer on April 13, 2022. On March 10, 2024, she was diagnosed with metastatic disease. She now faces four brain metastases, representing a time-sensitive and life-threatening progression requiring immediate escalation of care.
Conventional oncology has offered radiation and systemic therapy with an estimated 12–18 months of disease stability. However, given the neurological involvement, Krista is pursuing advanced, integrative oncology treatment through the Hope4Cancer Treatment Center in Cancún, Mexico, combined with targeted gene-mutation therapies after testing positive for two actionable mutations.
These approaches offer the potential for extended survival measured in years, rather than months.
The estimated cost of treatment is $90,000–$100,000 CAD, with an additional $40,000–$50,000 CAD required for gene-mutation therapy.
Krista is a mother of two, a two-time Olympic rower, and an advocate for improved access to comprehensive cancer care. She is fully committed to treatment and recovery but requires community support to proceed without interruption.
